probably but 6500 K with with 2700 K would give you better growth. Autos have a few weeks of vegging time and you want to get them as big as possible before they start blooming.
i use a mix of both spectrums...gives you the best of both worlds..and its true they have almost no veg time...the few autos i grew flowered before they was 2 weeks old...most around day 11-12 from seed
your comparing the sun to cfl's? but the reason they do is because later in the season they receive less light for shorter periods of time...which is what the different spectrums of light in indoor grows recreates.
So would all 2700k produce a shorter plant but with an adequate amount of buds? That's what I'm using for my Easy Ryder seedling in hopes it won't grow too massive. My grow box is not very tall...roughly 2.5 ft.

not really with autos...they are on their own timeline. ive tried it both ways and they tend to grow at the same rate during veg...just make sure you have more 2700k during flower. could always train them to keep them short...i just wouldn't top them...might not have time to develop new growth before flowering kicks in and that could drop your yield
The vegging period is about 2-3 weeks (depending on variety), and the Daylight (6500k) prevents stretching. Without the 6500k during veg, the plant will keep stretching 'looking' for sunlight.
I grew a Lowryder 2 (see my sig for picts) using 2x Soft White (2700k) and 2x Daylight (6500k) to provide a balanced spectrum, and the results were fantastic. I added another Soft White after the first month, bringing the total to 5x 42watt CFLs.
