EDIT: The FAILURE GROWCAB

NEW GROWBOX DOWN SOME POSTS

Alright here it goes my first CFL grow. I am working with 286 watts of CFL in a rather small area, heat is already an issue from my tests, im going to have to get a huge ass fan (relative to the grow cab) for this due to the high wattage of CFL in the small area.

I Have 11 26 watt CFL's, and will be growing LOWRYDER 2, will I be be LSTING due to probably less than 9 inches of vertical grow space

ABOUT THE Growcab:

Small area, about 20" tall, 72" lengthwise by 45" widthwise, so lots of room to place the pots, just not let the plants grow up.

It is fully equipped with two extra wide doors for proper plant servicing:weed:

The overall cost was about $70, and I still need fans. heres the breakdown

CFLSx12: 40$ (18$ a box of 6, not bad)
MYLAR: 2$ (emergency blanket, they call it "alumnized polyester", im pretty sure its mylar)
Socket to bulb adaptersx6: Freakin 2$ a pop for these, ridiculous
Y socketsx5: A whopping 3$ a pop for these, jesus christ I should have shoplifted, too bad im scared of getting caught.
Powerstripsx2: free, haha, laying around the house
Deskfansx2: hoping not to spend more than 30$ on BOTH of these. grrrrr The price i pay...

Reason I need 2 deskfans, the heat is really bad, those CFL's are almost like my old HPS, but I think I will be able to manage with an outake fan plus a fan blowing inside on the plants.

I will be posting up BETTER pics l8er, these are pretty crappy.
Suggestions? Comments?

9 inches of vertical grow space lol? how about! I had a little idea the other day. Making the plants grow sideways. Put the lights on one side of your container and place your pots on their sides. Support the stem as it grows with stakes because of gravity. Youre not getting lowrider original even to stay less than 9 inches and lowrider number 2 will go bigger.

Wow.. first off, you could have saved money and space by just buying 4 42 watters and wiring up sockets with no y adapters.. And grow it on its side like he said above dude.. or by buying 2 65 watt cfls from lowes and putting them vertical so you plant wouldnt grow up towards the light and you could have scroged. Just dont like the current steup

I really appreciate all the advice (no, really i do!), so what do you suggest I do with my current supplies? Should I move to the closet or what?

@ BCA: I would have wired them up and seriously considered it, but then I decided not to due to mounting issues (getting the cfl on a 2x4), I could have bought sockets and wired them up, but the sockets at HD were about 3$ a peice. so I decided I would just pay the extra 8$ or so and get plug-to-socket adapters and put y sockets on them to save a little time.

What do you think about this for a grow? Its about 18WidthX96HeightX48Length.

I would have to do some cutting to get it ready though.

K So I gutted it out. recycled my mylar and made a whole new grow cab, hell yeahhh.

Broke 2 CFL's in the process, im gonna be a mutated freak by the end of this from all the mercury im getting in my system. so this is now officially a 234 watt CFL grow, or I might add some in, I dunno we will see.

I still need to glue the drawers shut so people wont open them up and screw my grow over.
The inside

and again

Looks good

Nice stealth

Some CFL porn

How am I going to control the heat? I really need suggestions here, im in HAWAII so it can get kinda hot around here. I was thinking about wiring up multiple case fans, can I wire them up in series? Any1 ever done this before?
