strain: barneys farm red dragon
veg: 7 weeks in garden...8+ direct sunlight/day
flowering: fipped on 10 june
soil: pro mix grow medium
pot: 3 gal
light: 400 watt hps son agro
grow room: 34"x56"x7'
nutes: botanicare pro grow and bloom, cal-mag, hydrozyme and molasses (1 1/2 tsp/gal)

things have gone smoothly compared to last year...i was surprised at how fast they shot up under hps...the tallest is 36 in...i topped one and made an attempt at fiming another, just to see results, but as i don't have a lot of experience, i'm letting the genetics do their thing...i've pruned the lower areas pretty vigorously of late just because of the space and light not penetrating...i plan on taking advantage of morning sunlight on the balcony...

i added some foil on the walls for reflection...
sunning on the balcony...the largest has reached 36" so i decided to take the top bud off...i know some will say that i ruined the plant, but it was just getting to big...and i think it being on day 7 of flowering, i should be ok...

Plants are looking great. Although foil isn't the best option as it causes heat spots. Using mylar is cheap and great. You can buy some cheap emergency heating blankets in the camping section of most stores that work great.

I see a small pc fan in your box. Is there another extractor fan and or box fan in the box? I only ask because you may find a few more days down the line your plants getting to hot. Of course you may have a very good air flow system that I cannot see in the pic. :-)

no, nothing else...the door stays open during the light period, so the air flow is good and heat does not accumulate...it does get a bit stuffy in the dark period...when i open the door in the morning the plants are looking very robust, so the slight increase in heat and humidity doesn't seem to be an issue...probably would be better to have air circulation, but i am limited in what i can do...

well day 12 of flowering and the girls are getting pretty lanky, the tallest is 43"...my hydro consultant () tells me that a 400 watt hps is good for 40" and then penetration becomes a problem...i've considering pinching the stems, but i don't want to blow it at this stage...the tallest was the one i fimed, so hopefully the stretch is coming to an end, though i've read they can go on for up to a month...
in one of the photos the shorter is the toped and to the left, the fimed...

I found that using white poster board taped onto the back of my lights (4' fluro's w/ daylight bulbs for veg, aquarium bulbs for flower) surrounding my bushes makes an excellent reflecter. I used 10 bulbs total, plus a 150w hps on top for all the light I need. I'd post pics, but I don't want to be on anyone's radar screen......And that 1 100w cfl I used during veg worked wonders. I put it in a reflector base and baby went crazy!

day 20 of flowering and they are showing nice flowers forming with some trichomes...i didn't anticipate as much stretch as i got, the one i topped though is perfect in size and has 2 nicely formed main stems...fortunately i can get 5 hours sunlight on sunny days, otherwise i think the 400 hps would not have cut it with this amount of green...

i was wondering about the red dragon genotype...it is supposed to be one of the latest and greatest, or so i've understood, but googling it, there is a real dearth of info...also i've see pics where the first leaves of the plant have a reddish tinge, mine didn't have that...and there is practically no odor at this stage, i'm wondering about that too...

your plants look nice and happy. They must like the nice view off your balcony, all mine get to look at is the inside of a closet lol. I dont know much about that red dragon strain, but I wouldn't be suprised if the leaves went more red as you got closer to harvest. Looks like your doing it right though, doesn't look like any nutrient problems.

yep, balcony is really a huge boost, but i have to be careful the next door neighbor doesn't peek over
so i've put a screen up...

i've giving them the amounts listed for aggressive feeding on pro bloom, plus the cal mag, hydrozyme and molasses...i'm putting a little nitrogen in also at this point...i went to the hydro shop yesterday to see if i could find anything for a flower explosion, but the chick didn't seem to know a whole lot, although she did recommend a vitamin add...i've see the stuff on the forms, but can't remember the name...

Very nice grow. Only issue I see is I beleive you let them get too tall before switching to flower. 40 inches is too tall for light penetration for a 400w. You will get alot of popcorn bud for sure. Plants do look great though.

yeah...well, as i'm just past the n00b stage, i can forgive myself for any short-coming...they were about 20" when i flipped and they shot up incredibly...the one i topped is the perfect size for manageability...i fimed one at the same time as the topped and it is interesting to note the this plant has stretched to the same size as the others, about 45"...the topped one is 33"...

i've pruned pretty heavily on the lower portions, so i think combined with the sun they get, i'll just get by with the 400 hps...

i should explain that the vegetative was in a garden and that for 6 weeks...then i moved to the closet and that's when i got the 400 hps...so yeah, veg stage was totally not perfect

day 32 of flowering...things are going smoothly if a little slow...trichome is showing more heavily on 2 of the them, the others are just being reluctant i guess...still no major odors, only a slight hint of sweet and spicy...1 of the girls has a some leaves with brown tips which i am putting down to heat, the closet is closed with no venting and it gets pretty warm and stuffy at night considering how full of green it is...i do try to open the door in the night once or twice...the solution is not to have so many going at once and keeping their height manageable...

day 48 of flowering...nothing special going on, just some minor worries about some of the upper fan leaves yellowing along the veins and the topped plant has leaves curling which i think is too much water but not sure...anywhooo...2-3 weeks left so i should be good...cut a small bud to try out, a bit green but the buzz was enjoyable...

only other thing i'm not sure about is the lack of odor...people talk about how much their plants stink, etc...but these have next to no odor...i wonder if it's the growing conditions or what...the seeds came in the original barneys farm package, so i know there're genuine...
