2nd grow, lst newbie

ok i started my 2nd grow, first seeds sprouted already, im thinking about going lst this round.

i got a 4x4x5ft box (120x120x170cm) and 10 plants if all of them sprout:
3x mazar (Dutch Passion)
1x cheese (GHS)
1x hawaiian snow (GHS)
1x lemon skunk (GHS)
1x trainwreck (GHS)
1x white rhino (GHS)
1x great white shark (GHS)
1x arjan's strawberry haze (GHS)

now im not sure if lst is the way to go here since im not limited by height and i might have few plants too many.. what is the optimum lst height for 400w hps(in veg) ? i hope the questions arent too retarded and/or complicated

probably won't need lst too much in a garden that size with 10 plants. just top them all once of twice and they should fill the space.

tnx for the reply, i was doing some research and some thinking but im still not exactly sure...
i just dont like the idea of topping too much... would it be possible to make alittle taller lst, start lsting them alittle later so i keep the height about 40-50cm before flower?i was thinking since 400w hps only has limited light penetration i would only grow em so tall... and maybe not lst mazar's since they'll probably stay low enough?
any opinions? could this work out?

what about lsting spiraly upwards ? could that work?

You need more light for 10 plants, like 800-1,000 watts if you plan on growing them bigger than 18 inches tall.

10 plants shouldnt be too many as long as i flower em in time...
my last (first) grow i had 16 plants,2 months veg, really crowded, plants streched like crazy, all sorts of problems through enitre grow and still ended up with 200g+ dry...
