2nd grow

so this will be my 2nd grow. i have switched from a 400w hps to a 1000 watt hps. i have a 4x4 tent and just placed an order for these seeds..

my question is, how many of these should i grow at once to get a nice yield.. i know heat will be a bit o problem but i am getting the air cooled 1000watt light and i will be drawing in cold winter air from outside( i wont be starting till late aug/ early sep as im going on vacation so i figure by the time 12/12 time comes it will be nice cool weather.) should i spring for a bigger tent maybe? would that make much difference? thanks for all the help!!

4x4 tent should be fine for a 1000w as long as it is well ventilated. You should be able to grow 4-5 at a time to full size in that space.

it will be well ventilated.. i was thinking about cramming all 10 in there.. would be best to just do 5 and get max yield then do 10 and lose yield eh/.

Exactly. Too many plants will stretch and fight over the light, and you will have to constantly rotate them to keep them happy. Also you can end up out-growing your space. 10 plants can be done but I wouldn't suggest it.

being new, i want to get the best i can so if 5 is tops i will stick with that . thanks again!

Just remember 1 plant all alone can take up a 4x4 space, depending on how long it is vegged. Sativa plants love to stretch out and take up lots of space. Our job as indoor growers is to find good strains/phenotypes that grow short and bushy with a short finish time and high yield.

i figured on vegging until plants reach a max height of 12inches. is that good or should i go smaller or even taller?

It's up to you really. I like to veg my plants for 1 week max and flower them very young, but my tents are 2.5x2.5 so I have less space to work with. I also top multiple times to produce bushy plants instead of tall ones.

yea my 1st grow i had bag seeds and i stopped veg at 12in and they ended up being about 4 foot when done. im not sure if these better seeds with grow taller then them i hope not! thanks for all the help!

That's why topping/training the plants is so important. Cannabis needs our help to grow properly indoors, it will not do it on it's own. A little bit of training can double or triple your final yield.
