What type of system? I like those current cultures but would love to make a DIY and save some doughI would run RDWC perpetually.
SOG in a flood and drain.
How many clones would fill an SOG of that size? I have no point of reference but it was my first thought to run one of those - maybe with some vert on the outside walls to maximise the space.NFT SOG
Sorry that all my measurements will be in feet/inches.How many clones would fill an SOG of that size? I have no point of reference but it was my first thought to run one of those - maybe with some vert on the outside walls to maximise the space.
Thanks for the detail! That's really helpful for me to know. Looks like a pack of 24 root riot cubes wasn't enough hahaSorry that all my measurements will be in feet/inches.
I used to run SOG with 4x8 trays. I would have 96 clones in a 4x8 (7x7 grid minus 2 for the fittings on each end.) With 1kW HPS I pulled consistently 2+ pounds per light (48 clones). No veg but I would cut long 6" clones, and they rooted for 20 days (really rooted). I would then pot them into 6" square pots with expanded clay pellets and flower them. They would end up 40 - 44 inches tall (used a trellis to hole them up, lollipopped at day 20 of 12/12, they would have big fat 20 - 21 gram colas. Made for fast trimming. Ran that shit with the same strain (Shiva) for over 7 years.
Hey JD, long time no see. Glad your hanging in there.so, if you had the aforementioned space, growing in rockwool, so similar to coco and soil in terms of top feeding, two 600w hps, how would you run a batch of clones set for flower?
Thank friend. It's been a tough few months without flowers.Hey JD, long time no see. Glad your hanging in there.
In my 4 x 4 I am running 24 clones of three different pheno's. I am in coco, smart pots DTW.
All this pump talk gets me confused haha. I stick to my trusty watering can. Although..In coco with the 1 gallon smart pots is a lot of work.
I need a better pump, mine does 1.2 gallons per minute at 80 psi but don't think that is enough. Looking at a 5.5 g/m @ 65 psi and would like to reduce the noise level.
I will be back running a 5 plant vertical grow in the fall, but cut clones for the spring grow and thinking 16 plants instead of 24.
It's tough for me to get to the back plants but I have an idea for that.
I have got blumats I can sell you cheap. All this pump talk gets me confused haha. I stick to my trusty watering can. Although..
Have you looked into blumats in coco? Automated watering via medium moisture. Apparently saves on water and nutes, may be useful with no noisy pump too. I know they have a version with a Mat which wicks or, a probe type thing which you stick in the pot. I'd like to try them.
I hand water, if I were to scrog or SOG id probably use a hose on my watering can or a tube with a funnel. Could turn out to be a pain in the butt haha.
Thanks man! Shipping to Europe might be more than it's worth though.I have got blumats I can sell you cheap.
Yeah ive been thinking for a while about hanging up the can. I just don't really wanna water with timers and dial it all in. Too much worrying about over or under watering, timer issues and noise.JD i neglected to reply since renfro gave you a great response.
But wanted to say, if using rockwool i wouldn't use a flood and drain set up. I would use a NFT table.
If i had the choice between flood and drain with clay balls or NFT with rockwool i would use flood and drain with clay balls.
It offers a far better way to get o2 to the roots with less of a chance of root problems.
I personally think you should put that watering can down and get automated to increase your chance of success.
I hand water myself but im a coco guy with small plant count, no way i would do it with a SOG.
Good luck though which ever direction you take.
