Bagseed germ'd for 2 days. Day 1 and Day 2 seedling stage.

Hi everybody, here's the start of a new grow journal :-P
Bagseed was chosen for this grow in order to re-familiarize with growing again.
Anyway the setup is in a 2'x2'x4' grow tent with six 26 watt 2700k CFLs. Two 8" reflectors are being used right now with adapters to hold 2 bulbs.

Here is the tent setup so far. Yeah, theres not a whole lot going on at the moment til vegging starts then it'll come together nicely.

For now, at least, the focus is germinating.
Theres about 20/25 seeds that popped using regular tap water and placed in a bowl in wet paper towels for 2 days under humidome with heat mat on. Heater outside tent was set to low. Outside temps were low in 40's and high 60's inside during 2 day germ. I mention that for my sake since my room isnt insulated very well...or at all. The best 13 'lings were chosen since there were only 13 peat pod disc things left.

Here's a picture Day 1

I cant figure out how to make the pics full size yet. :/

The longest and, well, easiest seeds were picked and ever so gently placed inside peat pods after soaking in water for 10 mins. They were placed under two 26 watt CFLs with dome on.

Here's one of Day 2
Pelleted.JPG
On day 2 dome was removed and lights were lowered from 12" to a few inches away from tops. Added a fan. Temps were about 77-79 during the night with lights on.

Here's the lights in contrast to the seedlings.

A pic with the fan added. Set to low.

We'll see how things play out til they root out of the pods. :crosses fingers: :knocks on wood: : pets lucky faux-rabbit foot:
Send me your thoughts, concerns, advice. All is welcome, even the neg.

Ok here's a long winded update. Sorry.

All but one seedling has died.
I always have a hard time with seedlings. The jiffy pellets dry out too damn fast when theyre not in the dome and having two 42 watters 3 inches away from the tops can do it too. They don't get as good light in the dome and I didnt want noodle stems. At least this was bagseed so who cares?

Oh yeah, I ordered some Ak-47 x Hindu Kush Auto or as I'd like to call it "Easy KushRyder". I'm sure someone will chime in and call me arrogant or say I'm disrespecting the breeder by me unofficially naming it. Sorry, but, Ak-47 x Hindu Kush Automatic doesnt really roll off the tongue and I of course give 100% credit to LowLife for their genetics and breeding, I am in no boat to start naming other peoples strains. So understand it's just the unofficial term I'm using to make it simple for the rest of the journal.

Anyway, the one seedling that didnt dry out and fall over and die, is doing so freaking well for what I've been putting it through. After I tossed the deadlings away, I watered my only seedling left then waited another day and purposley didnt water it to see if it is really that drought tolerant. It was a little droopy the second time around, which was longer without water. Right after I placed my order on Attitude, I said "Fuck bagseed" and actually uprooted it just to see what the root system looked like. It sure came a long way in a couple of days. I figured I got good seeds coming now, I don't want bagseed. I soon changed my mind when I seen it helplessly laying out in the light. I felt guilty so I re planted back in the pellet. It's STILL alive...sure did stunt its growth some though:-(

Yesterday I started it on a 12/12 light cycle. Why not stress it out more? Just figured if it's a female, maybe I'll try my hand at regenerating it as a mother later on. Although it might just herm up on me. I'm just gonna bud it now. My experience has shown males grow a hell of a lot better so who knows...maybe I'll get lucky.

Here's a couple pics of it now. Sorry, I can't focus this camera for the life of me.

Here's some pics of my last grow just for nostalgia.

About a month old. One ended up being a male.

Early on in budding stage.

And this was a little before I harvested. I harvested them all a little late for the CBD. I waited til ALL the hairs changed. Good smoke, 3.8 ounces off three 22"-24" plants. The plant pictured above was topped and it just didnt grow as strong after I topped it. I got about 3/4 oz off that one. So I wont be doing that again anytime soon. That was just bagseeds too, pretty decent smoke, nothing to rave about. Tasted great, high was heavy at first but didnt last long.

Well stay tuned, hopefully this journal starts looking more like a real grow and less like some stupid kid growing plants with 10" stems between nodes or some shit.

Hey I was gonna order one of the autos from low life also. I was wanting either the ak47 or the white russian hybrid. I was thinking bout it yesterday then decided I was gonna wait till I get a better home cuz I remembered there was school a couple blocks down the road and I was like "ah shit", u know because I really wouldn't have much to worry bout if it werent for the school making the seeds turn to a felony. Anyways dude I was kind of shocked when I read the part on your note about pulling the bagseed. It kind of made me think of "plant murder" at first. lol I do like seeing mystery grows, and bagseeds are always interesting because there also always a surprise smoke. By the way Wulfgeir I like the closet idea u got going on. It looks sweet! I might have something going soon. Moving somewhere in the country in a couple months. Just in time for winter grow! 200 watts of hps fun :)

Before I chose my strain, I read throughout most of this guide here. https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/370767-art-auto.html
They have a lot of good info. Hearing about all these problems with Nirvana's AFs not being auto made me definitely choose a Lowlife or Joint Doctor's Lowryder strain. Kush is always known for being stinky, that's what scares me. When I get the seeds I'd like to make seeds right away.

I did feel guilty when I pulled it, but was also curious as to how the roots looked. Speaking of it's roots, they just popped out of the jiffy pellet so I transplanted it into a dixie cup lol. I used happy frog soil. The soil was really really dry so I let it soak in water overnight. When it dries out and then added water to it, it turns to mud. So annoying. Anyway, its under two 42 watt cfls with a new 10.5" reflector and the secondary leaves just shot out overnight and the third set is comin up all nice and bright green while the other leaves are a little darker. The temp directly below the light was at 100 and the ambient temp was around 90-95 for the whole light day which is at 12 hours on. This plant, man, I'm telling you is just so hardy, I never seen a seedling tolerate this much abuse. I'm curious to see if it's a female or herm. If it's herm, I might just save the seeds for outdoors in the summer since it gets brutal here in August.

I'm still contiplating getting a 150-250 watt hid for this tent, I have a 100 cfm fan and a big can fan but its so loud. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow

Yeah I checked out the 250 hps. Got a switchable ballast sunburst 250 so it should be good. Don't know if I plan on using it for another month or two from now. U know man I was reading another persons thread, it was husalifes to be exact and his nirvana northern lights never auto'd on him, but he said the auto smoke was even better then the original. When I got the hps I been wondering if I should have got one of those High output T-5 that supposedly puts out 220 watts and 20,000 lumens. I wouldnt know anything about the difference in the voltage of a 250 hps & a T-5 so.... yeah! Kush is da bomb! Always got that lime to da buds.

Turned out to be a male. I'll be germing my easy kush ryders after the holidays. I don't know a lot about forum etiquette so should I make a new thread or continue here?
