Hey RIU, the closet I was growing in was getting way too hot, so I busted out this grow tent and put my plants in it. They are all white rhino, and growth just started picking up again after that heat wave passed. My temps were 100 degrees F. I'm planning on vegging for a couple more days, and then throwing in my 600w HPS to flower. These plants were taken as clones from some other plants I had. They didn't look like they would survive from the heat, but they are slowly starting to pick up. I'll go take some pics and post them.

So I started flowering on the 9th. I'm gonna keep the 400mh on for about a week while they stretch, then put in the 600hps for the rest of flower. I also added a 125 cfl, and a couple fans. I'm using the Floranova grow and bloom for my nutes. I was using the b.c nutes that I got with my hydro system, but this is so much easier. The only problem I have are the temps. I have a 6 in vortex exhaust fan for my hood. That helps, I also have the lights going from 8 pm to 8 am, at night, when it's a little cooler. But my temps are still in the low to mid 80's. The tent is 2ft w x 4ft l x 5ft h. I don't think I can hang any more weight on it, but are there any way to cool it down in there. Thanks.

mid 80's youll be ok. as long as your not going over 90 they will grow lovely. you start going over 95 and they will start dieing. my temps usually 83-86 when my lights on, my tent is 20x60x62 and im using a 400 watt.

Cool. Thanks for the reply. The other closet I had them in was 6.5 ft x 5.5 ft x 8 ft. It was a walk in closet, and I couldn't ventilate it properly. The temps in there were reaching 100+. I thought they were all going to die, but they are all looking better, some more than others, but atleast they are still alive. I'm gonna take about 20-30 clones tonight, take the best 4, and put in my cheap bubbleponics system as mothers. I let the rockwool sit in ph adjusted water overnight,5.5. When the lights turn on at 8, I will clone.

So I trimmed the lower 3rd of my plants, and took clones with what I could salvage. I ended up with about 28, though I really only need 4. The plants are looking really healthy, and now have plenty of air circulation under the leaves.

I was planning on switching to flowering nutes today, but was not sure if I needed to flush my system first, and if so, how I would go about that. Do I just let the system run a few times with plain water? I have never flushed before and have not had any problems without flushing, but have heard it is a good way to reduce salt build up. Thanks.

Hey brother... on that system... do you have stagnent water in those tubes back to the main rez??? looking to mod my SB system to keep my rez temps down and am wondering about crap building up because of the water having no where to go and just sitting in the tubes. That is... unless you a runing pumps every 5 min.????

Thanks,

G.AL

Hey AL, I never really thought about it, but yes, there is always about an inch of water in the bottom of the buckets and the tubing running back to the controller bucket. I don't think it would cause any problems because the buckets and tubing don't allow light to pass through, and their is no air in there to create mold or pathogens. I ditched the 55 gallon reservoir and am using an 18 gallon rubbermaid. Seems to work fine. I also have an air stone in the res running 24/7 to prevent the water from just "sitting". I run my pumps 4 times during lights on. Every 3 hours for a total of 12 hours. The only problems I have are when I change out my nutes, sometimes I hit the drain pump or something, and they don't work properly. It will pump water into the system, but not drain it out. When this happens, all you have to do is grab the pump and turn it upside down. It should drain afterwards. Good thing I am always checking my system to make sure it is running properly. One morning before work, I went to check on my babies and noticed they looked wilted and weak. I couldn't think of what it could be, but after checking everything, I noticed the drain pump never turned on and my plants were flooded all night. I quickly fixed it and the plants bounced back. Just be careful, and make sure your system is up to par. SD

Hey guys, my plants have been flowering for 8 days now, and growth is really good. I trimmed the lower 3rd of the plants 1 week ago, but was wondering if/when I should trim again? I really only want to grow the main cola, so should I trim ALL side branches, or just the small ones?

Did I trim too much? I trimmed all of the branches that were not getting that much light. I hope I didn't screw up my plants. Some before and after pics.

Anyone? How much do people normally trim when doing a sog, with one cola? Do you just leave the main shoot?
