2x4x6' space ideas

ok so i have this 2' wide 4' deep 6' high closet. its near no windows and out lets. so im gonna run an extension cord through the wall. i cant cut the wall because i rent and im worried about ventilation, smell and how high i should put my lights above my plants?
any advice will help. im gonna used a 400watt compact florescent light. if that helps

Thats about the size of my room i have a 400 watt hps and the fan blowing on the light moves the air nice and stays cool but does smell up the basement.I also have the ballast out side the room.I use the hand method put my hand on top of the plant if my hand get hot my plant gets hot so i raise it till my hand is cool.My rooms only big enought for 2 plants.
