I was just told by someone close to me that having 3 lights in one of my rooms is too much load on the sockets and the feds will come looking for the cause. Is there any truth in this?

what if i connect them to extension cords and run them through my walls into other parts of the house? the sockets are 15a but there is that 20% i gotta take off so its 12amps i believe, would 1 1000 watt hps light be more than that? i want to avoid fires and feds lol. help me out

i don't think it matters what room they are plugged into. All that they could possibly see is how much electricity your using not where your using it. So you would just be manking things overly complicated by running wires to other part of the house.

Yo and read the amp rating on your ballast.

Regardless you do not want to put all 3 on a 15 amp plug. I would put one per plug which may cause the use of extenision cords. As of the Feds, you may want to try and discuss the issue with the power company before you even turn them on. Tell them you have a new AC system you are putting into 3 rooms of the house or something. My 10,000 BTU AC pulls 950w! almost a 1000 in it self

Feds won't bother unless you don't pay an outstanding power bill. The power company won't care if you use $1000 worth of energy as long as you PAY for it. In some areas you can create a pre-paid account with the power company so they don't even need to send you a bill.
