(3) 600w HPS vs (2) 1000w HPS

I am going to try 3 600w hps instead of 2 1000w over my 4x8 table. Im doing cool tubes with the bulbs and venting it. Gotta control heat. Has anyone made this type of switch? what should I expect with regard to quality, yield?

why not just add one more 1000 to the setup. One would assume you would still get better yeilds with three 600's vs 2 1000's...I mean that is simple math...but if you can control the heat just throw another 1000 in there or a 600 even.

I'm doing the same setup. Much bigger top buds thru out the table. I've chose this setup because a friend of mine show me the way to denser, thicker buds. The only problem I have is I couldn't adjust the height of each light as I please. Same amp rating (240v 3/600w=9amps) vs (240v2/1000w=9 amps 4.5 amps each ballast) instead of a four foot coverage.(2/1000w). You get about 2.5' coverage with 3/600w, inturn more intense lighting. You will begin to see that the buds in between the light will be much bigger and denser. Enjoy!!!!

I run 2-600's over a true "4'x8' table/inside diameter" and pull 2 1/2 p to 3p's off the table depending on strain------50#- 3 gallons pots sqeeze in the table.

wow ive been doing 2 1/4 with 2 1000w
I'm in soil as well------You're getting just a hair over .5 grams per watt which is good but not great---are u running co2?---how long are u vegging your clones? What is the nutes you are using?-------------My goal is 1 gram per watt-My last run was just under 1.15----the strain is "godzilla"--I veg the clones for three weeks then snap the light cycle. If you need help to get those numbers up, let me know.

the 600 you will be able to keep cooler and thus lower to the canopy. with propper ventilation you should not experience any loss any yeilds
peace and happy growing

you have any photo's of ur grow dr. von? im interested in ur grow, im setting up a similar grow and would love to grow 3lbs in a 4x8/1,200watt setup...a/c- cooltubing em? co2?

you will be looking at .17 to .30 grams/watt with 2-600watt on a 4x8. optimal conditions and expertise might land closer to 1/2 gram/watt on that set up but thats still not the desired yeild. 3x600watts being closer to 2x1000watts, but less heat, closer to canopy, awesome possem

I think most growers with even a little experience can hit .30 grams/watt that's just fair-----my last yield was just under 1.15 grams per watt and I ran out of co2 two weeks before I pulled them. I've done this for too long to lie or exaggerate---I'm not trying to be sharp or boast but just state the facts----my set-up is---------50#-3 gallon pots in soil on a bionacare true 4'x8' table(inside diameter is 4'x8') i run adjustable height sealed and air cooled radiant 8" hoods with hortilux super-eye hps bulbs with global greenhouse digis. I run co2 at 1500ppms after the first sign of flowering-I make my own teas with guano and sucanat and mix varies nutrients and additives into the feeds as needed---my soil is ocean forest with added bat gauno in the bottom of pots---I run it very loose with added perlite/fytocell--almost a 1-1-1 ratio---I have found that I veg my clones about a week longer than most---I add sucanat all the way till I cut them down-----the strain is "godzilla" 85/15 ind dom hybrid-------if I'm not pulling 1 gram/watt then I've done something wrong.

I got a 1000 watt agro lite in a air cooled hood. Put a 400 watt hortilux on each side of it. Works nice for me. About 2.5 lbs per 60 day grow cycle. Heat in the summer is a pain in the ass. I have 7 fans running for about 2500 cfms to keep it cool.
sounds good/and looks great!!!----what size is that room?

I have never used them but a lot of growers swear by them----I have my light on pulleys so them can be moved up or down------I run high volumes of air through my sealed hoods SO that I can put them inches over the canopies without burn---I also trim the bottom 1/3rd of the plants because the light cannot penetrate that far down---more energy goes to the main cola. I can only squezz 50#-3 gallon pots into one table so I need to get as close to a zip per plant to reach my goal-----I always run a few extra pots on the sides to make sure-----it alwas works itself out.

I bet those nugs are hard as rocks with all that light...
