3 gallon pot-overwatering?

I am growing in 3gallon pots. Can anyone give me a rough estimate as to how much water I should be giving each plant. A gallon? Half a gallon? I think I am giving my plants to much water. I only have to water them once every 10 days. That doesn't sound right!!! Can someone help me out with a good approximation?:bigjoint:

well here's another question is the water flowing through the pot and out the bottom?
or is there a giant pool down in there somewhere at the bottom?
you should see the water pass through the medium and out the bottom in fair amounts.

Like he said water untill you see in, also put a finger or two and if the top is dry up to the end don't water and about 1/2" from the bottem

You need to water slowly until you see water coming out the bottom and dont water again until the soil is dry a couple inches deep and the pot feels lighter. If you dont have to water for 10 days you either have young plants, low intensity lights, or probably not enough perlite in your soil, what kind of soil are you using.

I have 3 gallon containers and I water 1/2 gallon every 3rd day. I let all the water run through and sit below container so container is allowed to drain fully. Check them out on the link below...

if your plants aren't wilting, then they have plenty of water. under watering is much easier to fix then over watering.

I am using plasic buckets and grow bags. The water seems to be draining fine in the buckets, but the bags don't seem to be draining water. I am using fox farms ocean forest mixed with some cheap dollar star soil. I did not add perilte. That was a mistake!!! There is still water in the bottom of the bags. Should I still water? It's moist still on the top.

There should never be water at the bottom of bags or pots, do you have them sitting on a flat surface? They need to be on a grate or rack of some sort to keep the bags and pots from sitting in water. Otherwise they will not dry out properly and your plants wil eventually die.

do not water them until they wilt. count how long it takes them to wilt and then simply water them a half a day earlier. :)

lift your pots. are they heavy? then they don't need water. :)

I like the lifting method. Water weighs a lot and its obvious if it dry or wet. I do this with most of my house plants.:peace:

I think I need to get my plants off the groung and allow for them to drain more. I think the problem is related to the cheap soil that I am using. I am using ffof, but it's mixed with half b.s soil. Could this be the problem?

im using 3 gals and i water w/ about 1500 ml of water every other day but mine are gettin kinda big now about 5 weeks into flower and drinkin it up quick, so ill prolly up it to 2000 in a day or two,

u kinda just have to feel out your own situation and water when itwilts and learn ur plants threshhold like dude said earlier
