the bigger the better my misses says.. yeah get her into a bigger pot, more room for the roots , you didnt say if she is in flowering or not, because she will double at least while budding.. sorry missed that.. definately...

be really careful transplanting during flowering though, my guy before i started my own grow got very respectable plants out of 3 gallon bags. over an oz per.

I have 5 other plants in 3 gallon pots, but they are only a foot tall right now. This Diesel is a monster already. Im thinking transplant for a bigger yield?

5 feet tall is a little large for a 3 gallon pot but that just means you're going to be watering more often. If you're already in flower then I'd recommend against a transplant.

Okay, I'll play "the Devil's advocate" here.
If you're at 5 ft. now,,, it'll probably be 10 ft. when finished. Add 1 1/2 ft pot heigth, plus 2 ft clearance to light, plus the hanging / hood etc over that,,, How tall are your ceilings????
If you're 2 weeks into 12/12 and have not actually seen flower,, I'd put it back to veg, top it to 3 ft, go to the 5 gal. pot, and after 2 more weeks of veg, I'd LST as much as possible and switch back to 12/12 from there.
If the plant has actually been flowering for 2 weeks I'd prune off the smaller shoots, probably (seeing helps) take some of the larger dark green fans off too. Then LST down as much as possible and hope for the best.
The above response is because I'm stuck with 8 ft. ceilings and keep my largest to 4 ft. fully matured (vegged to 14-18 inches). (4' plant, 1 1/2' pot heigth, 1 ft. over canopy, 1 ft over bottom of light and I'm out of head space.
Remember too,, you need to penetrate the heigth you grow (or add side lighting).

I agree with HB. If you are more than a week into flower I would not risk the transplant. Once flowering is initiated root growth slows to a crawl anyways....

This cola was grown in a 1 gallon grow bag. Theres no exact size plants will grow in 2, 3, or 10 gallons pots. Its strain dependant. If you feel like you need to veg for 2+ months, then use bigger pots.

So many mixed opinions!!LOL. I did LST the main stock before I started flowering. I think I will leave it alone. This is my first grow and I screwed up by starting ww seedlings and buying two klones that were much older at the same time. So then I waited till the widows got a foot to start flowering all of them. My klones are going to be a challenge as I have only 8 feet of height!! Since I LST'd the Diesel she's about 3 foot tall now. Just want to get this first grow under my belt and LEARN from it. Thank you ALL for the tips.

A good rule of thumb is, 1 gallon of container for every foot of plant height.

im going to transplant into 5 gal a week before flower, because of the foot/gal rule
an ounce for a 3gallon pot grow i'd say isn't very great. Unless they're auto's or something. My first grow ever were 3 plants (SLH, Blueberry, Vanilla Kush) all in 5 gallon pots, all together dry weight just over 6 ounces. My Super Lemon Haze was the smallest yield at 1.5 ounces but blueberry got me 2.5 and kush got a bit over 2oz.
and this was my first grow ever
the grow i'm currently in is 2 girls in 3 gal pots (LSD and Great White Shark), only week 6 of flowering but i'm hoping for 1.5 ounces off GWS and just under 2ounces from my LSD. but thats just a visual guess
If i only got 1 ounce from either i'd be disappointed

I just went to transplanting to a 5g bucket before flowering . I was finding that i was getting root bound in a 3 g pot. Also is it in a 3 g pot or a #3 pot ? I was using #3 pots thinking they hold 3 g . But they dont its closer to 2 g of soil .
This is only my 2nd grow so no journal or anything. I have posted a few pics of her and will be posting more as she finishes flowering. not as big as my first plants but i didn't veg the LSD and GWS as long and they're in smaller pots.
heres last pic i took of her, I hear the high LSD gives is GRRRRREAT

i was stoned. stoned ind you for 4 hours after one bowl between 3 people. stoned. 4 hours. then high for another 3ish. top notch. tastes amazing.paid 70 for an 8th at dispensary and was only a little miffed at the price. just cause 80 is ricockulous
