3 weeks from seed does it look to small?

Tent is 2'11 by 2'11, by 7

I use CFL's for about a month of growing. They only will be under them for another week. I then have a 600w hps/mh which then I switch to how many lumens my plant needs and put the appropriate amount of space in between.

This massah getting mad, just giving my input and whats working for me.

Nope, not getting mad in the slightest...but you have to understand the cycles your plants go through, for the first 2-3 weeks they will be short and stubby, but once it gets out of the seedling stage and into the veg stage it needs more light, and closer or it will just stretch. I've done it myself, I've seen many other people do it, I've been to another growers house that uses nothing but CFL's and he was keeping his CFL's about 5-6" above(the 26watters), and he had lanky plants...I told him to put them 1-2" away and hes now growing plants 1/2 the height with 4x the bud...so I have practical experience with whole grow CFL's...switching to a 600watt HPS/MH is like going from a ford fiesta to a hummer...

Here is what I'm talking about when it comes to CFL's and light penetration:

^^ And thats a 125watt CFL...think of dropping that to a 26watt...you are talking about having about the same penetration distance as the little red area in the 125watt section...

Point of this is, you are using CFL's for seedlings, not for real growth, he will be using CFL's for his entire grow...he needs to keep them as close as possible to get the most light out of them...

the little guy looks great for 2.5 weeks old. Massah is trippin, youve got the right idea for sure. Make sure you let him know how they are lookin a month from now

This thread confuses me lol massah is spot on for sure hes just trying to answer the original posters question, HiGrow your situation is different since you will be switching over to a 600 watt. Deff listen to what hes saying if your doing a cfl grow all the way through. You most deff WILL have stretchy plants of you keep them 10" above.

He will have them under a 600watt MH a month from now...then on to a 600watt HPS...so there is no way to compare unless he wants to do an experiment, which I highly doubt he would considering the power he has to throw at those puppies

Great so we can agree! Where did it say this was a CFL grow? Must have missed it. You can still have heat issues will keeping CFL's that close, unless you have an intake that will be blowing right onto the plants.

Yeah my bad dude I didnt read everything through the first time around, I edited my orginal post. You deff have the right information regarding light/distance.

He's a new grower and only has CFL's to work with...definitely agree with you there about heat...you have to keep a fan blowing across the canopy and if contained in a small box/tent you have to pull it up off, but I can guarantee you any person growing under the household size(100 watt equivalent) 23-26watt CFL's will have stretchy lanky plants and popcorn buds if you keep it 10" away.

He's a new grower and only has CFL's to work with...definitely agree with you there about heat...you have to keep a fan blowing across the canopy and if contained in a small box/tent you have to pull it up off, but I can guarantee you any person growing under the household size(100 watt equivalent) 23-26watt CFL's will have stretchy lanky plants and popcorn buds if you keep it 10" away.

First thing I learned was that the bigger the pot you use in the start, when the plant is a seedling. The longer it takes to finish produsing its rootsystem. The smaller pot you have in the beginning the faster that seedling will grow. hey, I didnt see the thumb of rule for ligthing in this thread; Hand between lamp and plant, it should be as close as possible without making your hand warm

I grow under clf, the trick i use is double/tripple amount of lamps. Where you would use one, i use two or three. Atm i have 1x 125w clf 6500k e40 w/reflector and two 35w clf going in from the sides for my 1 m2 veg room. I recommend reading the thread about ligths and lumens on this forum. :eyesmoke:

If this is true, you have got some master growing skills my friend. But that bushy of a plant under cfls at 3 weeks???? How many and what wattage cfls are you using?? That most deff doesnt look like a 3 week old seedling.....

Thx for info I've now put in 2 metal halide 150w lights on either side of plant and have the 36w(300w eqv) cfl bout 2 inches away from top of plant on jack chains and hook plates the fan is now up n running blowing in the canopy of plant

. Anytips on nutes I can buy to help my little power plant very welcome and any other tips gladly received thx everyone ill post pic in couple of days to show how its fairing. Plz remember I'm a complete noob doing this on a shoe string budget lol

I can only speak as a soil user, but I usually dont feed the plant with much during the vegetive stage. I mix up some Miracle grow bonemeal in the soil when transplanting after a couple of weeks. Usually a tablespoon pr gallon of soil. After the last transplant (about a week) i start flowering, and give them 1/3 dose of an allround flower nutrient mix once a week. I up it to 1/2 dose 2 weeks into flower, 3/4 another three weeks from there. Theres a thousand ways of doing it, youll probably end up with your own way.

Im an absolute noob, its just a very fast growing strain.

Its under 200 actual watts of cfl half 2700k half 6500k.

OH and sorry if my plant is irrelevant to the thread because its an auto, I didnt know it had a big effect on growth rates etc, learning all the time

Looking better! It does need some more dark green to it though. I have had light issues that can cause the color to become light. Keep it up!
