You could try removing some of those big leaves and allow more light and air to the bud sites. Look up schwazzing, it’s your call but it is supposed to help increase yields. I just did mine but she was 21 days after light flip.the pictures should be... before, bud sites, after, and the last one is a day after the defoliation.

dear god no !! .... defoling is touchy .....you cannot strip it down like that during flower. This website spreads too much shit around.... papa bear .... read some stuff on defol vs not and see what ya come up with.... Its something you with a shitton of experience or knowledge.....but basic knowledge is to not touch anything after a couple weeks into the flip. Those leaves that this stupid site tells you to take off ARE THE solar panels for the plant.... the big fans stick out so it can suck up the light for the lower stuff. ive seen 7 gram buds in the "dark" under leaves and other plants. Defol is for veg

Agreed, don't touch them at this point....and never to the extent Papa Bear did (sorry). The one thing you could try, if you have room, is to tie the tops down which will allow more light to hit the bottom buds. This should be done in veg really. You could then lower your light. If you do it, make sure to water the plants real good the night before, and that will make them more flexible. Just go slow and don't break any stems! Maybe try one...You'll see what a difference it can make. I most always do this in veg, and then after they stretch in flower, I remove a lot of the lower leaves and branches so all the strength goes into the tops...This is called lolli-popping.

spot on info here bud!

Manfredo/GTG ... I agree folks. The large fans are an integral component of the plant and lollipopping is a proven pruning method.

But I just did a quick web search and received a few hits on schwazzing. So before I totally discount this technique, I think I'll read as much as I can about it first.

That’s what I did, I researched it, and felt like it was at least worth a try! So far my girl doesn’t seem to mind it at all, and I can see the lower pistils bulking up as well and it’s only been a few days! I will get one out of the light today when she wakes up.

Oy!! Schwazzing is just a really shitty new buzzword that was "invented" to try and capitalize on the burgeoning newbie market. I just finished Joshua Haupt's video on this and it was such a marketing schpeel so I discounted that particular bit of info ...

... but schwazzing is just Leaf Stripping and there are growers who have been leaf stripping for decades. This video, 18 days into his flower phase following a major leaf strip, shows the plants just as bare as yours Papa Bear:

Well ... I'm convinced it's worth a try. It's too late for these ladies so leaf stripping is definitely gonna be a part of the next grow.

1 minute an 40 seconds in....that dude is full of shit ! you NEVER strip your plant all the way down like that ...hes too far along. "when they are packed this closely , you need to defoliate them a lot! " bullshit , you can see EVERY stem in the setup .....you can see the whole floor.... thats wasting light an hurting the plants by slowing them down. We proved a couple decades ago that defoling just to get the lower branches light and airflow is a ridiculas as it looks. You think the inventer of reefer decided to put unnecessary leaves all over the plant ? dont defoliate unless you NEED to. Its a great practice but for all the wrong reasons. Defol in veg only until you understand the plant more. rant over... :bigjoint:

soil :joint:

It's not a rant, GTG ... it's your opinion. And you might be right - leaf stripping might end up being a major fail. But reading some of the comments leads me to believe otherwise. It would be fantastic to get more beef out of those popcorn nuggets.

After this grow is completed, I'll be taking a sabbatical until early autumn (a few vacations and a good stockpile already) so I'll find out if leaf stripping is worthwhile once I reboot my grow.

I understand everyone has their own opinion on this topic, but I did my research and took both side into consideration. I decided to try it to see if it worked or not. The pictures from my first post were from Monday, Here are the pictures out of the light TODAY.

Strip nothing from them .... those Sativa leaning plants are fine ... green , happy and stacking.

Absolutely no reason to scalp them . Also be aware you need to run the flower stage as long as needed to properly mature , long Sativa buds. I have run them up to 14 weeks at times. You “ could “ do a similar LST ( light stress training ) on the branches to “ open up “ mids and lower. But I see you are in 1 gallon bags ... Yield can be dependent on your skill , environment, health of plants , etc. .....

As far as strain ... who knows ?
But you mentioned a profile that sounds like a citrus terp ( limonene ) ... Tangie , haze or something like those.
I would not rock the boat on these girls .... overthinking shit leads to disaster.

i'll see if the cam will work later .....lolipopping is what you want. That will eliminate all the lower stuff and only give you tops. like i said defol is a great practice but its not for flower. I have 2 year old moms in one quart pots of soil. So in my world , i have to strip the mothers to keep them small and air flow but in flower i just dont touch much .....everything you do seems to slow them a bit or lower the yield,....
