300w CFL Blues - Fake or what?

hey

someone said that the 300w cfls being sold are fake... an ebayer (currently selling 250w CFL) said in their listing that, "other ebayers who are selling 300w cfl lights are not real.. " they have tested them and they dimmer than the 250w bulbs..

is this true?
the fake 300w cfls are the 8" tubes.. the 10" tubes are the ones.

whats wrong with 300w cfl bulbs?, im sure its not fake and that they do better than the 250wcfl.. otherwise why would they make it.. besides, the people that makes these bulbs can easily make a powerful one with not much expense. it would just cost them pennies to upgrade it.

cfl utilize a gas charged tube. Electricity passed through the bulb creates a chemical reaction which produces the light. The result is a cooler, more efficient light source, producing more light (lumens) with less power. therefore, more power more lumens..

CFLs penetrates better than hps, less heat than hps.. cost less.. suitable for those growing in a small closet or cupboard.

300w cfl gives out around 19,000 lumens, which is enough for a 4 sqFt area grow.
if you dont think it is, then get 2! this will be giving out around 40,000 lumens, thats 10,000 lumens per sq foot.. the sun gives 10,000 lumens per sqft.

can anyone correct me if i am wrong about this 300w cfl light?

Ive not heard of fake cfl's, but in the long run your stats sound about right,

I cant help you with your issues but i have developed a technique with my bulbs that may be useful to you under the circumstances :- instead of using one larger powered bulb use several lower powered ( as well as the main bulb if you wish, lol) then by yr bulbs from different suppliers, that way if a fake does slip in there ( or faulty bulb, etc etc) you only lose some of the light needed and not all.

i know its not perfect but it does give some weird guarantee that your plants will be getting some light,

P.S dude, im new at doing this properly, ive grown for years and luckily just got it right, now im actually learning and wondered how i managed it all these years, lol

Good luck fella and i hope ive helped, cheez:mrgreen:

i meant fake as in claiming 300w when it really uses 200watts... i have already bought the 300w cfl and going to buy smaller ones for the sides as you said in your last post..

what do you use? hows the growth using these lights?

lowes and home depot carry a 300 watt 2700k cfl. It is a monster for about 15 bucks. Nothing fake about that.

Ah, i see!!:D,
well thats just not cricket fella,in fact for the amount of money to be made per bulb is it worth the fraud, they must be pretty dim (low watt, lol i crack myself up sometimes) to bother with that
Im using a 150w (red) with one 45w (blue) and two 11w (red) at the mo,

any way on with the show,i found the vegetation to be slow ( ill add another 2 holders and 2 x 65w (blue) for next veg
however my W/W has gone into flower beautifully under the 150w it just seems to double up daily at the moment, have a look at the link in my sig,
theres an odd pic of the cupboard they are in ( and some flower porn, lol:weed:)

you grew 4 plants using a total of 217wCFL ?? looking at your pics, are you lights very close to the top of the plants?

TBH dude i grew 4 plants with a 65w red and a 65w blue, in fact the red65w blew on me after 3 weeks and i went a week and a half on just a 45w blue,

Then payday arrived and i bumped up the system with a 150w red, that only got put in there about 2 weeks ago.

The plants are between 6-8 inches away from the big light but i have the lower wattage bulbs just weaved in between as close as i can, pref no closer than an inch.

Some growers prefer all the bulbs within an inch but i cant tend my garden every day so i leave a bigger gap.

But yeah, results can be seen with quite minimal bulbs man, its quite surprising what you can do with a handful of standard household 11w daylight (warm or cool white) cfl's tbh.

I also have some sweet dreams on a 12/12 from seed experiment under there now and they also are going quite well, you will be pleasantly surprised fella :)
