30oz from 28 plants want better??

So have 28 white russians in a hydro grow.. Added a second 1k hps half way through a 65 day flowering now done. Most likely get around 30 oz off it but wanted to know if I can do better if I change the number of plants ect... Basically they filled the wen hole area of 7x7x8h and had to continually cut out leaves secondary lowers ect... Should I put fewer plants in? So many small side buds it makes harvest a nightmare really.. A lot of great big buds but so many small like a little bigger that a large golf ball sized ones.. Still good but time consuming... Would really like more big stalks and well just don't know how to do that. Trimming is so complicated.. On one hand you don't want to take to much off but then again I have trimmed a lot and still think I under did it... Any help please thanks....

Usualy a hell of alot of smaller plants beats a bunch of big plants in speed an yeild.
Espicialy if your starting with clones. Its the basis for the Sea of green.

how tall whewre they when you went from veg to flower ?

They are White Russian and were 14 inches tall in 30 day veg when put to flower. Very bushy!! Cross of ak47 with white widow. I must add this is the most potent smoke any of the people that have smoked it have ever had they have told me... I have to aggreee.. It is also rated as one of the most potent in the world and I think I got a very close it not that pheno with this one... Thanks..

Hey mmmmkayy, welcome to RUI!

Do you have any pics? An ounce a plant on 1000 watts is (28 plants x 28 ounces = ) 784 grams, ~0.8 grams per watt which is pretty good. Are you measuring cured or cut weight? Cured is usually 25% - 30% of cut.

I could recommend a lot of things but it would mean changing a much of your grow, a big commitment in time and effort. You would have to post pics of your grow room and set up, a list of equipment that you have. No or not much money needed though. Check out Grow Lab or The Academy at the bottom of my post, if there's anything that's of interest to you please post in the Grow Lab thread and we can talk through why the techniques I use give these results. I keep 12 of these buckets under my 600 watt light; this one bucket produced 3.25 litres of 4 week cured bud @ ~60 grams per liter.

I said half way thourgh I added 1k more so 2k for 34 days. But my sys now is a 50 gal rez and four NFT tubes with 55 stations.. Really can't get a much better sys imho.. sprayers on top and it drains back real well so in essence areo/film sys. A/C and lots of bubbles in the tank. Don't really think the sys change is the key but maybe more lollipopping or something, or scrogging it but I really believe the trimming to be key but not sure how much I can get away with and not hurt them??? If I could single cola them all I would be happy but I don't think they would produce with so much trimming... Thanks

I didn't mean to change your hydro system mmmmkayyy, I'm sure it's excellent. I meant the rest of your set up - lights, reflection, spacing, ventilation, growing style. Everything but the hydro system.

What am I missing? An ounce a plant seems a poorish return, not a good one. We would expect upwards of 40g per plant in soil.

Classic genes in my book even tho not as sweet and exotic as some of the newer strains.

For me usually takes 66 days under 600 watts in soil

oh, you won't get bigger branching as a rule. it will be one main cola with all the weight. i have had many colas 2 oz ish

What strain you do in 66? and were you saying white russian is good or exotic ? Also I do like main colas but to get big mains you need all the other plant parts don't you..? I mean it is a very fine balance when you start to cut off shit it can fuck em up imho... Not ever sure how much I can trim and make em nice fat colas still??? Would love to find out how to do it????

White Russian yes, which is a good strain, not exotic, usually takes 66 days under 600 watts in our environment. We wouldn't normally trim them, we usually get very large colas and the plants, if your light is equal, usually are very equal in height.

wow is that all on 28 plants 30oz ive just finished growing nirvana ice 2 plant scrog and i pulled 12 oz dry using a 400w hps i would defintly recomend less plants maybe half the amount its better to have 12 belters the 28 piss poor

It isn't just me then...

I don't have any good pics of white russian here. A similar plant would be shark attack which we find grows similar, little bit quicker which is the white widow and skunk cross. Maybe white russian is a bit more crystals. We would veg them til about 12 inches and grow to about 3 feet or so. they can be perhaps 5 or 6 feet tall if you leave them veg for extra week or so 16-18 inches

So far this year I have 24.8 ounces of WW from 2 plants - but one was the runt of the litter - have a third one to go yet.

I am going to grow White Russian next year.

Im a little stale of the whites right now but the White Russian produces some of the nicest resin (actually I say that but have just dropped some Blue Widow seeds which are of course WW with another of , in my opinion,the best strains Blueberry. Mmmmmmmmm Tried this?

I must add that the white russian strain out of 14 or15 I have grown is tops in potency even when taken early.. had two strains with twice the crystals. One grow with the russian had a mites break out late and had to take early and the thc must be some of the highest out there because it is rock solid fly to the moon one hitter.. This last harvest they are sticky as shit and well the thc is off the chart at I am guessing 22%+.. So stoned it is almost tripping balls to smoke this dank ass bud!! I am not the only one that has said this... It flys you to a mind bending high and less trics don't equate to less potent smoke at least with this killer strain... Want to know how many plants to put in this time... I figure done right under 2k hps I should yield 2.5 to 3.5 lbs and that would be fine with me... How to make that happen still to find out I guess..... was a forrest with 28 and well lots of work and trimming at harvest is now going on 20 hours.... Almost done and looks like 35 oz's after dry... Not that bad but I want it perfect... use top quality nutes from botanicare....
