Yowsers, but nekked, huh?

Looking good though - how tall are they now?

Stretch is basically done, I presume?

They are around 24" tall and yes the stretch is done. I had to prune aggressively because they were so bushy. Lesson learned tho, I'm using Green Crack clones and just planted some Serious AK-47. The Green Crack is supposed to be great for growing single cola plants and the AK-47 sativa pheno is lanky with a heavy yield. Cross my fingers I get one of those, wouldn't mind the Cherry pheno either.

Thanks again

Shooting for 24" so I imagine I'll be flowering right around that 8-10" height - is the Green Crack more sativa or indica dominant?

Going outta my mind waiting on this RO filter to work, the thing's slower then molasses.

Buds are starting to fill in real nicely. Same regimen as far as feeding and ph, the temps are getting colder tho. Low is around 55F and the high is never over 70F. Probably going to hookup a heater soon and try to keep day/night temps with 10 degrees.

Some pics, again not the greatest. Can't wait to get my new iphone 3gs tomorrow. Wish it had a flash like my old BB. Tell me what you think... And there is the last batch of POG I did in soil before this grow right before I harvested. Those had 2-3 weeks left on them, but I had to harvest early.

About 2 more weeks left, but I may go 3 more if I can. Everything is looking good. Same nutrient regimen, 1300ppm with ph swings between 5.5-6.0 during a weeks time.

2lbs for this grow was the goal, but I think it will be closer to 1lb total in reality. Some of factors included which I know will effect the soon to be outcome...

1. Environment - Since this is in my garage I couldn't exactly control the temps/humidity as much as I wanted.

2. Light distribution. Sure I have a 1k light with an open reflector and light is plentiful, but the distribution isn't exactly even. One of my next purchases will be a Magnum XXXL 6" air cooled reflector which is huge and from all the threads I read, it is THE best reflector for even light/heat distribution.

3. Strain selection. I grow what I like and what works for me. In this case it was TFD POG which is a mostly indica, heavy producer with great medicinal value. Not so much a good candidate for SoG because of the HUGE fan leaves and tons of branching. It does great as a bush and the 2 moms that I flowered will probably yield 3-4oz a piece. Point is it does much better as a bush than a SoG plant. A nice 50/50 hybrid would do much better or even a fast flowering sativa would do. I'm trying Green Crack next and may throw in a few AK-47 to see how they do.

4. For true SoG I should have flipped directly from rooted clone, lesson learned. I gave them 9 days veg which was a mistake. This being a mostly indica gave it time to branch instead of stretch and grow the single cola. Made it a PITA and I had to constantly trim.

Overall so far I am sold on the Lucas formula. Very easy to maintain with no adverse effects, no deficiencies or burns. Takes a lot of the guess work out and is simple/cheap to maintain. I will get back to you on if it has any effect from not flushing.

I'll finish this up after everything is harvested and dried with some final thoughts and weights.

Take care!

Hey - DND
Would you say the POG did better in soil? It appears from your pictures as if your bud density was higher with the soil grow. I've also read somewhere (on a grow review site) that in a comparison, the buds seemed bigger and more prolific with soil over hydro. Your thoughts?

Yes, the soil plants did better all around compared to the aero ones. I dont think this is due to the the style (soil vs aero), but more because of POG being a true bush plant that excels when vegged properly without heavy trimming. I wont grow POG using SOG method again, but Ill keep a mother alive and try outdoors. I think in a nice semi shaded area it would be medium bush with monster yield and killer smoke.

I have already took the top buds from all the plants and trimmed. The lower sites get until Dec.8th as planned.

Greetings,

I will be very interested to learn what your yield was...
Sorry, been a while since I have logged back into this site. Total from this unit was disappointing @ 12oz. Total was 17.5oz... I flowered 2 mothers.

I just ordered a Magnum XXXL ballast, but I ordered the 6", thinking the dimensions were the same as the 8" (save for the flange size).

They're not.

8" - 38.5x29.5
6" - 32.5x26.25

Also, you had 32 plants in a 2x4 Rubbermaid, correct?

So about 4/sf.?

Asking because I'm going at least that dense for my next run, and possibly up to 9/sf.

Any idea as to why?

I am about to go with the same system, but with 21 plants instead of 32. I have a Jack Herer Mother, and she is pretty bushy. I am hoping that with a short flowering stage for her clones, I can keep them from interfering with each other as they flower. I will be delighted to get 16-21 ounces.

Hey DND, its all trial and error so don't be disapointed. Whatt do u think would yeild more next time? Less plants, same veg time or less veg, 32 plants?

Great effort DNA. i just built a aero set-up out of the yellow and black tuff tote(26gal?) from home depo.. i have 20-2inch nettie pots with lids or neoprene, 260 gallon pump 360 sprayers, 40gal gal w/2 bubble curtin sticks. Aqua Flakes A + B notes. thinking about getting a fogger to raise the h2o temps a little.

Anything else you can recommend?
were the 2in netties big enuff,?
sould i top or lollypop (or both)
any strain u recomend?

Im shooting for a lb. girls will be vegging under 400w hps and flowering with 800w (400hps.400Mh).
