Ok im new here but i have a single plant of purple kush growing underneath a single standard socket is it going to need more lights? I cant really put anything on my power bill so all i have is a 4ft box with a cool air intake with aluminum foil for the reflective material im trying to save the money for mylar but i cant seem to... anyways is it possible to grow my plant for the whole cycle? Id have alot more but my place got robbed about 2 weeks ago

Emergency blanket from walmart : 2-3 bucks ( better substitute than tinfoil )

Light wise always follow this motto, " The more light, The better the bud and yield " Keep heat into consideration.

Yeah no tin foil it makes hot spots, hold in heat and in not very reflective at all. Yes you need a lot more lighting than just a single CFL. Increase the amount of light by 4-5 times what you have now to get any kind of yield. Your plant wont even flower with the light you have.

with CFLs your going to need a bit more wattage. CLF's will only push out about .40 gram per watt on a decent grown, but then again it all depends on lighting situation. for Veg use the 6500K lights, and when u switch to flowering your gonna want 2600k lights. My lasy CFL grow i had 256 actuall watt of CFL (ten lights) and came out with 1 oz dried off an 18 inch plant.

also with CFL's you want the light 1-2 inches away from the plant for best results, CFL only travel upto 250-400 nm, which isnt very far. so dont be scared to pack some lights on the top, and sides of the plant. To keep her happy.

250-400nm is light wave lengths not effective range. The effective range on florescent lighting is about 12 inches after that the light is useless for plants.

really 12 inches? CFLs dont travel no 12 inches. don't want a cfl any further then 4 inches away to give it proper amount of rays for the photosynthesis. if u got ur plant 12 inches away, its going to stretch to the light and get top heavy and eventuality not be able to support its self. CFL dont put off heat so, tage advantage to that and put that bitch right next to your plant. i promise ive had good results with cfls. one foot away is way to far way!

I did not say that the light was 100% effective at 12 inches only that after 12 inches the lighting is totally ineffective for plants to use. 2-8 inches is much more ideal. If you have the lights 2 inches from the tops of the plants anything lower than 10 inches on the plant will not produce any buds worth keeping on the plant, trim them off and send that energy to the tops. This is why LST and SCROG is the best grow method for florescent lights.
