3rd times a charm

This is my grow journal, after 2 frustrating failed attempts i'm going for the hat-trick, but with success in mind.

Fate must've been smiling upon me about 2 weeks ago. Went to take out the trash in the back alley and found this waiting for me. My old neighbors used to smoke out there and always smoked/cleaned their sack-o-weed and with all the good rain we've had in past weeks 1 of their seeds sprouted. I plucked her out of the ground brought her inside. Didn't want to get my hopes up again so i waited to see if she would take to moving indoors ok and so far so good.

Got a cardboard box 20x20x20 lined with mylar bday wrap and 2 mini 4" "high velocity" pumping an estimated 50cfm.
Stabilized her under even mix of 2 27k & 2 65k 26W CLF's putting out 1600 lumens each. Now i've gone to 3 65k and 1 27k to promote vegging, in a week or so i'll throw another 65k in to make her more happy.

My medium Is Whitney Farms Uncle Malcoms all organic potting mix with no added ferts, with some gravel i added to help with drainage in an 8" plastic pot. Currently she stands at 5.5" and has already started producing a new set of leaves to bring it to about 6" when they're finally developed. As far as nutes i've only given some B1 for the transplant and them some root stimulater by Greenlight 5-15-5, Since i put her to veg just yesterday i've got a sample bottle of Organicare/organigrow for vegging i'll be feeding her in days to come. KEEP IN MIND my plan at this time is to get her about 2ft by harvest time(small closet grow)

Please feel free to post comments, feed back and/or ideas. Since i haven't had a successful grow...yet, any help given will be well received

Forgot to mention. Temp hasn't gotten above 86 on the hottest day so far humidity sitting at 25% though since i live in AZ it'll be difficult to sustain it much above 30% unless its raining and the general humidity has been as high as 65%. I have a thermometer/hygrometer that keeps daily highs and lows to help

You shouldn't have any trouble getting it to 2 feet by harvest time. I put a plant on 12/12 just 3 weeks ago and it is already nearly 3 feet tall. I wish the damn thing would stop growing, I'm out of room. I forgot to add that I flowered it at just 12", so look out.

my computer's been down for about a week thanks a fucking virus. as you can see i'm up and running again.

so far the grow had been going well except the other day a few leaves had begun getting these spots(pic 2) as well as a bunch of the very tips of most the leaves have started turnind yellow and drying out(pic 3-4)...not sure whats going on.

i tore through my closet to get a thourough vacuuming and sprayed some "home defense" all in the closet and a mix of neem oil and insecticidle soap inside the box(there shouldn't be any bugs at all).

UNLESS its something to do with my nutes...? i've been using half strength when i mix and only every other to every 3rd watering with distilled water. though i do admit i don't have any measuring cups or spoons so i could be doing a little more than half ratio but definately not full strength

spots all gone and lots of veg growth about an inch and a half in about the last week. she started touching the lowest hung bulb yesterday so i repositioned them and added some socket splitters to give her some light to the lower leaves that've been starving for it(rotating 1/4 circle every day for even developement)

i'm glad everything is finally coming together :weed:

maybe its just the angle of the pic but the one in the ACE cup seems like he might be a little to close to the bulb...I would move them a bit further from the bulbs and get some air going in there in an attempt to lower the temps anyhow goodluck - don't put to much weight on my advise here as I am a noob myself but I have burnt some gals in a simuliar setup when they are that little the high temp with being that close to the bulb might burn them

i think i spoke too soon. up untill these recent storms rolled through the heat outside got high and so did in the house and my box. for about a week the temp had averaged 95F. even with my 2 exhaust fans, 7" oscillating and 20" box fan i could for the life of me get them any lower. i've been looking for a window a/c unit on the cheap(classifieds, craigs list, etc.) but so far no luck, might have to budge and get a new 1.

now i've lost a number of leaves and lots of what remains has got dead tips. guite a bit of pinching as been done and these pic were just taken. plans are in motion toward a taller box and this time i bought a sheet of plexiglass. i've seen others here at RIU using plexi as a temp sheild by cutting it to size and installing a seporite exhaust fan effectively making its own chamber. i have a busy schedule these next weeks so i'll keep you all posted.

happy growing everyone :leaf:

sadly with the fast pace the hot weather moved in and my busy work schedule my plant went into shock. what with a 13 degree sudden jump in temps where i live i couldn't cool things down enough to save her. as a last ditch effort to bring it back i stuck her outside for about 3 days in a very cool part of my yard. some leaves came back to green but quickly turned.

ON ANOTHER NOTE. i bought seeds from nirvana, called Full Moon, a stought sativa with great ratings for my climate. anyone stumbling upon this have any feed back on it. i have 1 seed i'm sprouting right now to put outside and saving the rest for when my lease is up to move, it could by trouble-sum to relocate an already growing plant you know. lol

i look forward to starting another journal on the outside girl as soon as she's strong enough to transplant

Ok a couple of things going on here. The browing/burning is nutrient burn. It has been burned pretty badly so before you feed her again, do a good flush. She will love you for it. Those spots from before were photo burn. When you spray your plant make sure you move the lights so the water doesn't microscope the light and leaves spots like that. Good luck!
