3x2 Grow Space

I have a 3x2 closet. Can anyone tell me the ideal wattage for a 3x2 grow room? I plan on growing a few tall plants. Height is not an issue (8 feet). Would I be better off with a 400 or a 600 HPS? I plan on using a cool tube either way. What is the maximum number of plants you would grow in soil. I plan on moving to hydro later. I am serious about this grow so thanks in advance for the help.

either is fine for that space, I've used a 250w HPS for over 15 plants before. You can use whatever, even a 1000w.
Just make sure you have ventilation.

I would say a 250 watt, but as you mentioned a cool tube 400 watts should work. You'll need to paint the walls white or put up some mylar in order to get the most light to the plants. Also realize that objects at further distances from the source of a light will have significantly reduced lumens shining on it. When you let plants get tall, the lowest branches will receive much less intense light than the top colas and the buds there will end up being dramatically smaller.

The higher the better, but just don't forget about cooling. You don't want to go under 25 watts per square foot, but you will get much better results with the larger lamps.
