4 Chamber Perpetual Cabinet Grow 600w HPS + 600w MH + T5 + LED

What's up rollitup!

I've been wanting to do my own journal for a long time so I'm finally just gonna sack up and do it :-P Here's the set up;

I have two Earth Cab Pro XL's that I got here...www.cabinetgrow.com. One they customized for me with LED's and one is their standard model.

Running ICE...I think...Got the clones from a friend of mine several months ago. He told me at the time that it was blackberry, but it's definitely not. I know he has an ICE mom, and after a couple pulls I think that's what it is.

Cabinet #1 Now has;
IMG_1006.jpg
Top Chamber (bloom)
•600w HPS on a Digi ballast
•(#3 soil pots in week 7
Lower Chamber (veg)
•2x 3' HO T5
•(1) #3 soil pot for ICE mother
•Tray of about 30 clones
•Veg in .5 gal soil bags

Cabinet #2 now has;
IMG_1007.jpg
Top Chamber (bloom)
•600w MH on Digi ballast
•(#3 soil pots in middle of week 3
Lower Chamber;
•(3) 45w LED panels 6:1 red(660nm)/blue (460nm)
•(3) #3 pots + (2) .5 gal bags just cuz I couldn’t bring myself to throw ‘em out

I’m running;

•R/O water
•Fox Farm OF
•Rasta Bob’s Rasta Roots (benis)
•CNS17, Sweet Raw, Hydroplex, Liquid Karma

I don’t feed any nutrients for the first 2-3 weeks, then start with the Botanicare. Double Trellis with a lot of thinning below, although I’m running what feels like a lot of plants so I can focus on the main stem and still fill out my canopy. Both systems are cooled with 6” duct blowers and use 6” carbon filters for odor control. No CO2. These bad boys are pretty damn stealth.

GOAL- I’m trying to hit 1 gpw. Seems like a lofty goal, but seems possible with the genetics I’ve got and my last crop I got 1.2 dried, so…why not right? PLEASE keep comments positive…One Love :bigjoint: I welcome questions and comments from noobs, and really would love feedback from the vets around here.

Yes it was expensive…I didn’t build my system because I don’t have the tools…or the ability. It’s already paid off though, so I’m happy.

WHO’s IN???

Wanted to show a video of my plants before I thinned them, and then after. Any suggestions, or comments? I feel like I could have done it sooner, and maybe thinned a little higher on the plant...

Nice set up! I'm looking to get a grow cabinet but I'm not sure if I should jump into hydro and go with soil. I've never grown before. Is this your first grow or are you experienced?

Thanks! I'm proud :D I have a little experience...none compared to a lot of the growers around here, but I recommend soil. You'll be tempted to grow hydro either way, and I recommend it for anyone to at least play around and have fun with...but in the end I think soil is easier, cheaper, more eco friendly, and produces just as well.

SHIT! I done fucked up...thought I was on 12/12, but was actually on 24hrs. You know the mechanical timers that have the little switch on the side to override? Ya, I overrode it on accident. I should have double checked to make sure the lights went off as scheduled, but got lazy. Now I've got some HUGE plants. Looks like I'll be doing some super thinning tonight. I'll post some before and after pics/video tomorrow.

I've got 8 plants in a 4x2 foot print scrog, should I basically trim all but the main colas??? :wall:

How's the smell with the cabinets? I've heard the plants get really stinky just before harvest. I want to get started but I don't want to have issues with the neighbors.

Thanks for the vote of confidence IC...not a ton of room, but it does pretty well. I'm running 6-8 degrees over ambient. With how I jacked my timing, I need to do more than just train this one I think...I think I need to hack the shit out of them LOL! I'll post the pics/video tomorrow.

I have kids and family that come over to my house all the time. NO ONE has mentioned a damn thing! They put a huge carbon filter in each of the cabinets, so I definitely think that helps. You considering a box like mine or are you gonna build a room?

UPDATES-

Almost time to pull these...started flushing a few days ago. Sorry for the poor quality pics;

UPDATE- I just harvested last night :weed: Should be a pretty good pull. Here are before and after videos, sorry for the low quality;

The weigh in...

I got just over 13oz. I could have done much better and I'm a little disappointed in myself. Smoke is SUPER nice, smooth and clean. High is buzzy and mellow. Just know that I could have done a little better on the weight.

Please give me your opinion here...should I;

(A) Run 6 units instead of 8, veg until 12" like last time, and thin out, or

(B) Run 6 units and bloom earlier...like 6" tall and thin out less

Would love to hear your thoughts!!!

Here's my updated videos...been SUPER busy lately and it shows in my plants. Anyhow, I took some tiny clones to see if I can keep 'em happy and planted some seeds for NEW STRAINS!

Mango Maui
Sour Diesel
Blue Dream

Here's an update on my flowering plants in the other box. Looking pretty good, but def close to the light.

Here's my next round...didn't get much feedback in here about what method to use, so I'm going to try a few different ones :bigjoint:

Here's a pic of the roots before I transplanted;

and finally, these are the clones I took off the 4 plants now in the modded tomato cages...I have a SUPER cool experiment I'm gonna do next, in my other grow box so stay tuned!

I thought 13 ounces was pretty decent considering your space :). Did you veg at all or straight 12/12? I know you probably said, but I'm high!

Your tent set-up is pretty awesome. I like that you have two different lighting systems going on. I am a bit ignorant of HIDs however...are you able to have them so close because of the cool tube??

Thanks for stopping by LadyJ! Don't get me wrong, I'm not all that mad LOL. It's just that I've done quite a bit better in my grow boxes before and hate it when my #'s start to slip. I vegged for about 3 weeks on this one, then thinned them out pretty good before flowering. 3 reasons that I can keep the tube close to the plants;

1. The cool tube is the main reason for being able to keep it close, as the air moves nicely through it
2. The cool tube is hooked up to a 6" in line fan/blower that's pulling air across the bulb and through the tube and finally out of the cabinet
3. A decent size circulation fan is used to cool the space between the tube and the canopy

All three work in sync and removing any one of them really hurts your environment. The in line fan does most of the heavy lifting by pulling hot air off the bulb itself, the tube offers little resistance so airflow is pretty smooth, and the circulation fan cools the top of the plants while also removing some of the heat from the outside glass of the tube itself.

There's a constant flow of cool air coming into the grow cabinet on the bottom, while all the hot air that rises to the top is sucked out through the carbon filter that's also inline with the tube/fan. Works BEAUTIFULLY :bigjoint: Wish I could take credit, but I bought it from a co in SoCal. The guys that build these things def did their homework...

Just checked out your CFL grow, very nice! Lots of love in that box, I'm sure you'll do well!

I can understand wanting to match up to previous numbers. Nothing wrong with aiming to keep getting better! I can tell that you take really good care of them though so hope you feel proud :)

Thanks for taking the time to explain, especially in a way that was easy for me to understand! I'm guessing that you're using passive intake? I'm thinking of putting together a set up similar to this. I love CFLs but wouldn't mind broadening my horizons :).
