Paper ignites at 451 F (from Bradbury) and wood catches fire at 572 F. I believe in safety first, but while HID bulbs are hot, they aren't blow torches.

here's a pic of a box with interior of 24" x 46" x 75"
that is a 1000w of HID light shining (600w HPS and 400w MH) - the temp inside the box at the time of this shot: 63 F

moral of the story - i doubt you'll have any problems but before you put anything in it - run the lights for 24 hrs with a thermometer in there and then you'll know for sure.

Yeah actually the reason i was concerned is because my choice of cabinet changed. I need to keep it out of the knowledge of a roomate for as long as possible, which means stealthy as possible, and 4 feet of canbinet isnt to easy to stash in a studio apartment. Shes a stoner to so as long as she doesnt find out intell theres some fat sticky dank buds growing in there then im good because ik it would be to good to let go for her once she sees them and im in the clear, at least thats the theory. The cabinet i was thinking about getting is a wooden file cabinet like setup, about as high as a regular two drawer filing cabinet. Think this would be alright with a 150 watt hps light with a failed cool tube because thats what my main concern was, a failing fan? 570 degrees and im good?
