4 Plant Grow

I recently started my four plant grow.

Currently they are seedlings, just breaking through the soil and trying to shed their shell casings. Just sprouted today. I have 3 feminized Nirvana Aurora Indica, and one unknown bagseed from some lower than average quality KB. Just wanted a 4th to round out the group.

The current seedling chamber is a 10-gallon rubbermaid, with about three coats of flat white to ensure a solid, even cover inside.

Inside the chamber there are 4 23W 6500K CFLs, each positioned horizontally directly above each seedling, about 2 to 3 inches above the soil. I put in a little 5" fan, which sucks air in through a square opening I cut in the rubbermaid. On the opposite side up top I have two passive exhausts.

Thermometer is reading 84, with a humidity of 21%. I'm not sure how accurate this is, as I just put the device into the chamber. We'll see what it says tomorrow morning.

I'm using some cheapo Jiffy seedling mix right now...but will switch to something else of higher quality once they've established themselves.

Main grow will be under a 600W MH for veg and then HPS for flower.

This is my second grow ever.

First grow around 2004. Pretty much just threw a bagseed under a 400W HPS in the utility closet and let it go for a few months. It sucked. Not sure what happened at all, but it wasn't a "professional" grow at all. Looking to do it right (at least as "right" as I can) this time around.

I think this is a pretty solid set up for the seedlings. I'll let them strengthen up for a couple of weeks before going under the MH.

I'll see if I can get some pictures up sometime.

Sounds GREAT! I'm flowering out my 4th generation Nirvana Aurora Indica. I've got a pretty Sativa looking phenotype but it's a very good stone and does well for pain. It really doesn't compare quality wise with my Cali Connection Pre 98 Bubba Kush but it's not bad. If you get the strain I have, it's very similar to Juicy Fruit Gum to me, then vaporize it you'll be amazed at the flavor.

Matter of fact the taste was so strong I couldn't finish vaping it even though it had a pleasant fruity odor it was just so strong. The high isn't as couch lock as I was looking for but it's a nice plant although the genetics will be leaving my garden with the last 3 clones I took (5th gen). I'm planning on trying my hand at making some feminized seeds for myself so I can bring AI #2 (my keeper pheno) back from the grave!

If you're interested my first grow journal was AI (see my sig).

I have an extra sprout.

While planting, I lost a germinated seed. Or at least I thought that I had.

I guess it fell into this pot.

Problem is the seed that fell was a bagseed and it fell into the AI pot.

I've got them separated now. I guess I'll have to wait to see the phenos of those two to figure out which is the bagseed and which is the AI.

So I'm at 5 now. Gives me better odds for one of the bagseeds to come up female.

They are all dead or dying except one bagseed.

I think too close to lights and lack of water.

Should you give soil a good watering before putting in germinated seed? I did not.

Bummer dude, the soil should be kept thoroughly moist until the seedling is an inch or two tall and putting out its first true leaves. Cfl's can be like 2 inches away from the plant without burning it, i would keep it at 4 though. RIP baby weed

I'm pretty disappointed in myself.

I psyched myself out about not overwatering...and really just killed them off. It didn't help that the Jiffy seedling mix is super super dry.

So, I've got the one bagseed surviving.

I'm going to play around with that and top/FIM it a lot until I get some new seeds. Going to see if it winds up female and if so, turn it into a bushy mother bonzai type.

So this mistake has probably set me back about a month. At least now I can fine some new genetics.

Will say this. The three Nirvana Aurora Indicas were originally purchased more than two years ago. I had five, gave two away, and then these three all sprouted and germinated just fine.

I think I'm going to go with FFOF from start to finish this next go round. I still love the seedling chamber.

So let's talk about genetics for the next go round.

I'd like something with a sativa effect, but grows more like an Indica. I guess that's probably the magical plant that everyone wants. I don't need a super yielder. I'm more concerned with it glassing up nicely, looking pretty, and basically being a premium smoke.

I will.

I decided on Ice because it seems to have several different phenos. From this first batch, I'll take a cutting off of each and then choose which one I like the best.

I'll keep yall posted on the one bagseed that remains. I'm sure it'll end up male.

Today I transported the seedling into a larger pot, with FFOF. I added some perlite, about 25%.

I think I killed it though, I wasn't patient and didn't want to bring any of the crappy seedling mix, and I think I was too rough with it removing it.

If it is still alive in the morning, I'll be surprised.

Not too worried either way.

Seedling survived and looks great. A little overwatered, but given my past mistake I will take it.

I'm back on the right track.

The little guy is beasting it.

A little more than an inch tall, with the first two sets of leaves complete, the third starting, and now the side shoots at first node of have started to develop.
