Hey Dan

Im at a loss to be honest what im gonna do with it. lol.

I was thinking hanging it somehow or maybe standing it up in the middle of the 4 11L pots when i transplant. TO be honest i wanted it last week so i could use a little reflector and break the babies in a bit more gently but you know grow shop owners lol. (feckin stoners lol)

J
lol yup my grow shop pal is a red eyed, baggy pants, chilled out, stone head. But he is also a geek when it comes to knowing his shit bout growing... lol

I have him on speed dial....LOL no shit bro....LOL

Hey Folks

Well i figured i would do an update on the ROCKLOCK and also of something else that i have been working on.

The rocklock as you can see has some burning. This however was not caused by nutes being too strong but from ME not having tight control over the pH.

I had been mixing my nutes to a desired EC level of around EC1.1 and was not dropping the pH down to 5.8 i was just using the nutes at whatever pH they came out at which after testing was usually around 6.5. I have now realised that as this is kind of a Hydro grow i needed to bring the pH down alot further as the medium rockwool and hydroton that i am using has a tendancy to make the pH drift alot higher. When i realised i had this problem i went out and bought some EPSOM salts and began pH'ing everything at around the 5.8 mark as when i tested my runoff it was peaking at around 6.8 which was far too high. So since this time over the last week i have been religously testing my pH and correcting it down to 5.8. I am under no assumption that the burnt leaves are now just going to fall off in time and never really recover.

Dont forget that this was just a little side experiment to see what i could do using this kind of medium and hand watering.

The other pics are of my new mothers sitting nicely in their mother box.

So far it has been 8days since i planted the seeds. You may notice that there was originally 3 seeds that i planted but i 1 did not germinate so i tossed it away.

I have also included a pic of my new cloning propagator that i shall be using once the mothers are capable of being cloned.

I have now also decided that my IONIC range of nutes just arent cutting it for me and i dont like how yellow the plants become during flowering.

So once the mothers are fully cloneable i shall be switching to CANNA COCO A+B for flowering along with CANNA PK13/14.

anyway hope you enjoy the pics.

Cheers Dan. I know what you mean!

Yeah the rocklock is looking good considering the pH problems i was having.

Have mixed my final batch of Formulex for this grow into my 18litre container. It has an EC1.0 at the moment with the pH sitting nicely at 5.9. Doubt i will need any more than 18litres to finish this grow off.

Dont even know how long is left. Its just one of them "its ready when its ready" deals lol.

Aw your welcome pal. Hey J's missus... > looking forwards to coming to see you. Goin to bring a few prezzies for both of you:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D. Im hoping to be over in like 4 weeks but im thinking its going to be a bit later. Anyways I wish you and your bump well. See ya soon... D:grin:

Yeah the 18 liters should be enough i think J.

Yeah probably will be enough. I might just have to adjust the EC a little higher. But im not even going to add any PK1314 to it either just a bit of Liquid silicon here and there.

The formulex has a near enough 2-1-3 npk ratio so it should keep it pretty healthy.

LIke i said a few posts back that the ROCKLOCK looked like it was N clawing under the canopy but this was probably just due to the pH prob's.

Anyway gotta sign off now .

Speak to you all soon.

Hi Jon
How is the diy dry box? Did you finally manage to get the timings right. Last time I see you had it on for 6 hours, off for 6 hours for 5 or 6 days if i remember right.

Hey J, it's about time for another experiment, eh? C'mon, I need some more coco info, before I make the decision to switch.

J/K man, keep up the good work. :leaf:

HI Jayme

It all depends on how much there is in the box.

I found that when there was around 1oz in the Dry box it worked well running for 6hours a day. BUt when the POG was in there it needed to be ran for a full 24hours first off and then down to around 6hours a day. BUt i found with more in the box it was better running it for 1 hour on and off for 2hours etc

Experiments will follow in a new thread once i can clone the mothers.

Man o man this ROCKLOCK in the rockwool and hydroton has been a freaking challenge man.

Never trying something like that again once this one is finished lol

Hey J, wanna take a quick look at my girls, and see what you think? I top-dressed my soil with lime, last watering(5 days ago) and when I fed them last night(full strength Dynagro bloom and full strength Protekt), they perked up almost immediately, within 2 hours. They look good, except that some of the leaves have a slight upwards curl to them. After looking at your own high PH problems, I'm wondering if that might be what caused the curl, with my own plants. It doesn't look as severe as your's, and might be perfectly fine, but I wanted your opinion. I think I'm just being paranoid. What do ya think? The first pics are before feeding, and the others are 2 hours later. The lights don't some on for another 4 1/2 hours, so IDK what they look like, today.

They look good to me bro!

I personally am the kind of person that likes to see the plants relaxed in a grow room. So to me the first 2 pics look better than the 2 later pics.

Im not really fond of when the leaves almost appear to be praying pointing right up at the lights.

But then thats just me.

Dont get me wrong im not saying there is anything wrong with your 2nd lot of pics it just my personal preference.

I think if the leaves are relaxed and happy then the room is generally perfect as they arent having to search upwards for light.

Im sure i read RIDDLEME wrote something about this also about leaves being relaxed.

Thanks man, I'm glad to hear that you don't think there's a problem. But, on thwe other hand, I'm going to have to disagree with you, on the "praying for light" theory. I've been told that it indicates vigor, and health, showing that the plants are growing full-steam, absorbing/processing as much light as possible. I'm not 100% positive on that, but, it was info given to me by a very experienced grower. Sounds logical, doesn't it? I know they're not struggling due to low light intenstity. I'm getting a little over 5,000 lumens, measured with a light meter, just below the tops.
