I was wondering What would be better for my next grow, Last grow it seemed like My plants got to big for the 400 watt

*whoa! had deja' vu for a moment there*

...that the bigger the plants mean bigger buds. I have a 400hps and like 8 to 10 b!tches going in vegetarian status right now. I read multiple times that if you use a 3gal pot that once the fan leaves reach the tips of the pot that you should switch them to 12/12 keeping the light close enough to where you can have your hand the same height of the canopy(top of your plants) and it not burn to have tighter nodes and a more boisterous bud formation per nutrients used. I'm sure others will chime in assistance but I will most certainly use ALL fem seeds next time and only do like 6 to 8 at most at a time next go round.
I'm sure I'm gonna have a male or two in this batch.

yea Im about to get a bunch of clones ,Havent decided what I want to do, I have 2 400 watters

I have four big plants under one. Im finshing one huge 5ft +one that had a 400 watt all to its self,Im not impressed with this plant(svf OG) theres bud everwhere but silver dollar size

I'm in the same boat. Have 2 large 4 ft'ers with extra space. I think I'd rather keep them small, and fill the space completely and keep it perpetual.
