sucks ass. unless you go with small plants. I Don't like my 400w at all veg or flower.

I have a 454w T5........

...........Thinking I'm going to add some extra CFLs to it 400 or 600, if you are new 400 is fine, if you are experienced well...you probably wouldnt be asking if 400w was enough.

a metal halide would be better for veg but to keep it short n simple yes u can use a hps all the way through

i get what i consider good harvests from a 400, last time 225g's dried and trimmed stems removed and all, i know lumen output is better per watt for a 600, but i checked the numbers and it's not that much really. thing with the 400 is that you need to even out the canopy very well scrog or sog because it doesnt penetrate as well so growing trees is not that well under 400's

Sure, I have an hps bulb w/added blue spectrum now (which you should get is possible, really helps imo), but i started with using just reg mh and hps bulbs and i gotta say i prefer the normal hps to the normal mh during veg either way.
