if you can afford it get the cobs I did & have no regrets my cobs @ 340w flowers a larger area than the 400w. hps it replaced with a bit less heat I now use my duct fan to exhaust heat still playing with the yields but so far 25% increase due to the fact my led is flowering 42x30 Scrog where the 400 hps struggled to flower a 29x29 Scrog 400w cob you're suggesting would flower about 42x42 area & would really rock a 3x3 you also have the option of a 315 cmh my advice is to dig around see what people are running & the results they're getting & make a choice that's gonna work out to your benefit here is a couple of pics from my led grow IMG_1054.JPGIMG_1055.JPG

@horribleherk it's funny you bring up Cmh 315w...I have been looking at those as well.
I have considered getting the prism Cmh 315 with the conversion kit so I can still use the same ducting and cool tube I already have set up. On ebay a Prism Cmh 315 ballast with conversion kit and Philips bulb is running about $255.

You: $949.00, 300 Watt CXB 3070 (2015 chips), 43% efficient @64w from datasheets; 129 PARw.

I was going to stay out of this but if you really want to market lights towards this market then don't use out-of-date technology and sell for $3/watt, or $7.3/PARw because that won't work here when we have options like Timber selling at $3.3/PARw or DIY for less than half that at higher wattages.

I'm very sure I can build a fixture using CLU048-1212 gen6's from CobKits that will cost me 200-250$ and beat what you have.

Just because it doesn't have the newest chips, doesn't mean it won't kick ass. I've been growing with COBs for years. My CXB3590s don't crank out more yield or quality than my old CXA3070s. I'm not using Vero or Citizen. I'm using Cree. Proven Product.

Of course you can build one cheaper yourself. Isn't that true with anything? When I order a $15 drink at a nice place, I don't say "Hey I can make that myself for $5."

This my last post in this thread. I was trying to help RatKing. He said he needed a light for a 3x3 area to replace an HPS. If you feel comfortable building your own, do that.

prices are a lil steep,im sure you will sell the shit out of those on ebay though.hell i had a ebay listing for my frames i had to pull down because i couldnt keep up with the sales and i had them priced rediculously high lol.not many cree fans left around these parts,dont take it personal.creenis envy is real but as long as you dont mention cree and mars in the same sentence we should be ok,oh snap i just did it,here comes the dawgy :hump: bring on the bitch's (:

714steadyeddie, after years of running 1000 watt HPS and MH I am downsizing to two 3X3X7 tents. One for veg and cloning using mixed spectrum HOT5's and one for flowering with LED's. I would like to know if your 400 watt Vero29 does very well on flowering and in what size grow area.

or is this a better light MEIZHI Reflector-Series 1200W LED Grow Light Full Spectrum for Indoor Plants Veg and Flower - Dual Growth Bloom Switch

Long time indoor hydro grower looking to downsize and save a little $ on electric if possible.
Your help is appreciated. I need to make a decision soon on the LED's so I can get the Fall/Winter project started.

I'm very happy with my purchase from Timber. Hard to find a great product with customer service to match it.
i like all the meds I'm producing with the 400w Vero kit. Things are only getting better as I dial everything in.

Update :
I went with the Vero29 400 watt (3500k) from timbergrowlights.com.... Temperatures in the 3x3ft tent stayed about the same as a 400 watt hid cool tube.... But I got a noticeably better yield from the Vero29 cobs.

400 watt Vero29 cob = 195 par

400 watt hps = 125 par

400 watt MH = 140 par

I'm thinking of getting the same light (Vero29 400W) but with two 3000K and two 3500K. Should I do that or go with 3500K all around?

Why use 4? Get 8, 12, 16, however many you can afford from a supplier and run them soft, all within that 400w.

50w and lower you can run them on a cookie sheet with good air circulation.

Solves your heat problem. Gets the most out of your electricity. Win-win.

Mix the colors up as you see fit, there is no best. Some will say 3000k, others 3500k. It is basically the same as liking one sports team over another - irrelevant.

we tried out a cree 3590 100 watt Cob framework from Timber with one plant. It grew an incredible jack herre that produced a little over 3oz. Loved how it worked so we bought the Vero 29 V7's 900 Watt framework for a 5x4 grow room. we run it at about 80% and the plants look amazing. No heat issues, passive 6" intake, 8 inch hurricane exhaust and various small movement fans for circulation.

I'll have to second that. 3590's would be a far better choice for that price point. The 3070 is not a premium COB and does not warrant a premium price. You should not charge a premium price for a second tier product. If your component costs don't allow a reasonable profit at a lower price then you need better sourcing.

You have no heat problems with the 900?
Have you finished a run with it yet? Results? If not how's this grow going with it? Would you recommend 2 400 watt Vero by Timber or the 900 ran at 800 watts? Thanks for the help.

haven't finished yet. we are about three weeks away. Shooting for Sept 23 or so. No issues with heat. We have a portable AC unit we use when the humidity or if heat is forecast. We are exhausting out of the gable vent of the shed. the 900 fits our needs so we like it. since there are three units on the framework you can run them individually if you wanted too do that.
