O ya Miracle Grow is crap. Use FoxFarm if available. You should only need one fan as well. What are you growing?

Skip the CFL's and go with a 400W MH and/or HPS. Should only set you back around $120. Besides, something tells me that running 4 100W CFL's will heat up your grow space more than the single HID with an external ballast. If not, you could always get an air-cooled reflector.

Ya a cracked seed before/after germination. If you have germinated and it cracked that's good. Just get it in some soil or RW. Ummm.... If it was cracked when you got 'em chances are it won't grow. If you bought them online. You may be able to get free seeds with a future purchase or something.

I'd suggest HID's but so would a lot of ppl. Truth is yes you can make it with CFLs. You might want to change the color spectrum, once flowering is induced tho.

Youll have less heat and twice the light if you just get a 400 watt HPS light instead. your yield should double over CFL.

HPS is 50% more efficient than Fluoro lights. Highly recommended

ill even admit (being someone who decided to initially go for an all-cfl grow) that once i added even a relatively low wattage hps my plants took off and bulked up. heat management is not very hard. if AT ALL possible look into a hps light instead of cfls, or a combination of both.
