400w Northern Lights Waterfarm scrog! First grow :)

I posted this in another thread, here it is again,....Anyone that recommends not using the drip ring in a water farm, doesn't understand what happens in the hydroton... When you remove the drip ring, you stop dissolving oxygen in the water. The concentration of oxygen in the air and water are not the only factors which determine how much oxygen will be dissolved in water. The amount of surface area between the water and the air will also determine the rate of oxygen exchange. The hydroton provides a huge area of interface. A bigger surface area, as when water runs over rocks in a rapids, allows more oxygen to enter the water. Water temperature is also very important in determining the amount of oxygen which will become dissolved in water. Filling your waterfarm with air stones won't put any more D.O in the water than the drip ring will.. That's not just my opinion, it's what happens in the wet hydroton... You should take the advice of the waterfarmers... Most dwc use small baskets for their plants and that's fine with me.. It works great for so many people.. If you want strictly dwc thats what you should do... Why take a system that works so well and do away with it's aeration system?? I won't argue that an air stone isn't needed.. I've added one to my WFs. to move the water. Leave the drip ring, if your choice is one or the other.. A WF is a dwc.. it doesn't become one..

As mytwhyt stated theres no need to turn off the drip ring. I just did it as a test and switched back to the drip ring.

here are updates for this week. She is 49 days from seed and i intend to switch to flower on Monday.

PPM at time of feeding are 700-800. I added a bit of advanced nutrients big bud powder just to see if it affects the plant positively along with lucas formula
PH is sitting at a comfortable 5.8

I intend to keep weaving for the first two weeks to fill the screen some more. What do you mean by light being wasted?

Also have a quick question guys. How far from the plant should i keep the light? ive lowered it a bit to 7 inches. Should it be higher for more light coverage to the whole plant or is it good as is?

I believe he means if the screen isn't filled some light will be wasted illuminating nothing. Get it as close as possible without burning the tops.

Try messaging rollitup, or sunni. They might be able to.
Perfect! Thanking you sir. By the way seeing as your lsd is indica too is it good/ bad that they are bushy. Mine is bushy as fuck and im worried that some new budsites may not be getting the light they need. I try tucking them but theres quite a lot of thick and big leaves. should i just let her be do you reckon?

Try to keep the tops as even as possible and move those pesky fan leaves under the screen. If you can't get one to get out of the way it doesn't hurt to cut it.

Great. Il try that today. Ok guys i think we may have a potential problem! Last night woke up at 5 in the morning and noticed the lights were on :/ So checked my timer and during the 12/12 sleep time the lights had been on for an hour or so the last 4 nights. i must not have set the timer properly which is a stupid thing to do. Im afraid of it turning hermie on me!

Set that timer correct, check then double check then check again. I don't think that would cause her to hermie, I've set my timer wrong before and all turned out well. Only one way to find out though!

Here are the pics for this week. She is 4 days into flower today. Have bumped up the ppm's to 900 and ph is at 5.9. Also found the first problems with the plant. It was only two leaves. Looks like heat stress to me if im right?
