400w or 600w

i working with a dr 80 grow tent and i cant decide if should go with a 400w lamp or a 600w lamp im going to use a cooltube and 5 inch extractor fan and a carbon filter , my concern was heat being a issue

Bigger plants or smaller plants?

Heat isnt really an issue for air cooled until you get to 1k.

smaller Indica plants maybe 3 1/2 ft - 4ft max

400s have a bigger variety in types of bulbs you can use and put out less heat so they can be placed closer to plants.

600 is going to have more lumens with more heat as well.

I would say a 600 is more practical.

I use a lumens per sq ft formula. 3,000 lumens and over is best. I'm at 5,000 lumens per sq ft.

Correct, and up to 10,000. But you have to also think in terms of usable lumens. Too much of one spectrum is not good.

i like 600w, as in 2x 600w, i also like to cool off my bulbs. this way i can lean over and give the lamps a nice lil' kiss before bed. if you want output without goin to a 1000w, get the 600w. it really is the most efficient, all crap about math aside! also make sure it has a digital ballast, it'll save ur power bill. for all you math nerds, that space is 38" by 76" somebody tell me the lumens per foot, and i will tell you if ur correct and lets not start a debate bout lamps, math, lumens, etc. the only real advantages of going to larger lamps is the output per actual space the lamp resides in. more watttage, higher power bill. if you ask anyone the 600w has the best math. word

I call BS on that! Using just MH during veg and jsut HPS in flower isnt bad. I currently run 1 1000 HPS and 2 400 MH for veg. Mixing is good, but by no means necessary.

thats a sweet light kincaid. $251 in us dollars. i paid $237 a piece from htg. very comparable light. i have noticed that very style of tube light, tends to distribute the light 180 degrees, and possibly a lil more. this is good for different height plants. make sure u paint ur walls white or use reflective film. i always paint, its way cheaper. nexare, sativa said too much of one spectrum, is not good. that is a very vague statement, omiting what spectrum, etc. mh reduces stretch, imitates early season sun. hps broader spectrum, imitates mid and end season sun. both work, wether in combination or solo. good luck
