400w vs 600w (small grow)

So I've been doing my research and preparing to start getting things together for my first grow. I have a very small area for growing. 2hx2wx6h. I'm not sure the best way to go about it and was looking for some input from you growers.

Should I try to go with 5/6 low rider strains or 1/2 of something that will grow bigger in general (thinking either AK47 or Train Wreck).

Also, for such a small grow area would 400w vs 600w make a difference ? I'd rather stick to 400w just for the $$ but I'm open to getting setup the right way the first time so if 600w is better for my wants then I can spend the doh!

Pertaining to the CFMs on the filtration systems I've read that too much air can under utilize your carbon cans. Is this true and by how much? I'm looking for a 6 inch fan with a CFM of 450ish and the filter I think is listed for 250 cfm I think. Would that be too much air through that filter? I'm in an apt and HAVE to have NO smell outside my box. Also, with these fans, can they be enclosed in a carboard box with sound proofing? I'm a musician and have plenty of sound foam handy but concerned with overheating the fan. With a closed system it seems they must cool them self because I can't see vents on the casing of the van itself.

I'm sure this stuff has been posted before but couldn't find the exact answers I was looking for. Thanks,

J

I would go ahead and get a 600w light, price differences is really minimal, also the EconoPlus Supreme 6" Fan is 440CFM and works excellent, I use it in a 6x8x8 room and is more than enough with 2 1000w lights and it runs about $160 and pretty quiet. Make sure to get a air cooled hood its well worth it.

AK47 from BC is probably a great strand to do, its a smaller plant, finishes roughly 2.5-3' tall. You could put 2 of them in your 2x2 area and get very good yield from a 600w.

Good luck!

How much of a difference in yield would a 600 make vs the 400?

I run 400 watts in a 2x4x7 room and Ive had problems with heat until i got a cool hood.. I'm no pro but id say 2x2x6 is abit small for 600watt but keep looking i could be wrong

No way would I run 600 in that space. It's more suited to a 250, although you could make a 400 work with good airflow.

I guess I should have said, but I do plan on having a cool tube type 400 hps! It will NOT be linked to the filter, but rather straight in and straight out for the tube alone! Pertaining to the air filter setup, what difference in the cfm for filter and fan should there be before its drawing too much air and not really untilizing the carbon? ??
