I getting ready to buy my first tent. I only have space for either a 4x2 or a 3x3 and am looking for pluses and minuses of one over the other. Help me choose ?

The 3x3 is a little larger footprint to grow in.
What is your concern between the two sizes?

How many plants? How big is the space you are putting it? What style of grow are you planning? Do you already have other gear? Lights?

I use both, and the 4x2 is better if you're growing more than one plant. It's easier to utilize all the available space
My yields are better in my 4x2 than the 3x3; not by much, but consistently even though it's giving up 12.5% area.
Power of the rectangle :)

I have a 3x3 and wish I'd gotten a 4x2 instead.
As someone else has noted it's hard to reach the back of a 3x3.
If you need to move it a 2x4 will fit through a doorway assembled a 3x3 won't.
There's a better variety of lights available for a 2x4.
Whatever you get make sure it's at least 6 feet high.
My personal recommendations for a modest but good quality set up would be:
AC Infinity 2x4x6 tent, AC Infinity S4 exhaust fan, I power 4" carbon filter, 2 Viparspectra XS1500 pro lights, 2 or 3 AC Infinity oscillating fans, 2 or 3 timers, power strip and bam you have the tools to grow some killer weed.

I would concur except for the fans, the AC oscillating fans are overpriced junk, and are no better constructed than what you can find at Walmart.

I like their clamp but you're right. They do have a lot of control features for more advanced grow operations though. Not that I use it.

2 x 4 is better because of light distribution/uniformity, it's undeniable.

With a 3 x 3 you should have 4 smaller light source spots (cobs 50-75W per piece for example) or a ~300w led bar IMO. Nothing else quite meets uniformity and output in comparison to a 2 x 4 where you can put two or even three separate quantum panels and adjust their angularity to achieve maximum PPFD.
(it works best because of opposing lights meet the length of the tent whereas square tents do not have that feature before a size of 4 x 4 at least)

And as stated before a 2 x 4 is easier to manage, hence one probably puts less effort for a better canopy control.

Many 2x4s are only 5ft tall, though you can get them taller. Most 3x3s are 2m tall.

It's easier to buy one light for 3x3 , no matter which light source.

Not as many light manufacturers cater for 2x4s , least not with a single LED and definitely not HID.
That's not to say there aren't plenty of lights the right wattage, just not the right shape

2x4 is definitely easier to train and prune in all stages of growth though.

2x4 has easy access to the plants. 3x3 is a bit of a reach to the back.
my mars hydro tent is solid built and has flaps that open all the way round, no streaching to get to the back plants. but as above, space is the problem
