i have a 5-6 ft. monster in a 5-gal bucket. I need to know how much water she is going to suck down . - what is the maximum amount of days i could go with out water in the 5-gal bucket. No rain, and no water period, how long could it go? how long should it go, and how much water at one watering should be given?

my spot is kinda hot box now - i got the word, so i need to know the days between ea. water estimated by some of you professionals.

thanks.

I water good each watering, when I plant it, I leave about an inch from the top of pot. When watering it, I fill with the water until it is ready to over flow the pot. I let the plant dry between each waterings, sometimes it can be 3 days or more, or less depends on heat and growth period. A good way to tell when to water is to stick your finger up the bottom hole of the pot, if dry water it, if moist still, water next day. Also watch the leaves, they lighten in colour when needing water, just before they wilt.:peace:

I'm in 5gals also and I water every three days and the soil is always dry two inches from the top when I go out. I've let them go four days a couple times when I had to, and they got very upset with me. For me, four is pushing it too much and stresses the plant. They seem to respond very well to the watering schedule in place now.

Water every time the soil dries out. Stick your finger into the soil (about 3 inches deep) and if its dry, its time to water. You'll need to water all through vegging AND flowering.

no.. i dont think i worded my question completely right. ------ the word, from a cop my spot is HOT to make it short and sweet. so i can not go there often... as little as possible. that is why i was wondering how long you think it can go between waterings, and how much should i give her ea. watering. i have an idea but i jus want some other opinions.

i think what i might just do is take the one that i have in the 5 gal. and just transplant quickly to the ground right there. and leave it. i have some there not in buckets that arnt going to give the spot away, AND i have camo nettingstuff that really camo's in my 5-gal. so what is your guys's opinion on what to do?

no "are you dumb" responses. please.

It doesn't matter why you can't go there often, if it's "HOT" or just a long walk. With decent sun exposure, 4 days is the longest you can go without waterings in a 5 gal bucket without risking it dying. That's my experience with 4-6ft plants.

Putting it in the ground and leaving it is the second best idea. Calling it a loss and never going back since cops are fucking talking about your spot is the best idea.

Wow, if cops are saying that your spot is hot, then you'd better stay the hell away from it (unless you wanna meet bubba).

and i think i am going to just go there w. a mask at night and maybe move it a LITTLE bit and put it in the ground.. she is not worth killing or leaving straight up - i'm expecting almost a half pound from this one girl... SHE'S monster!!!! i have it all tied back and bent, the thing is getting optimum amount of sun through out the whole entire plant.

it's phenomenal looking, so therefore it's going in the ground.. which is a nice wet ground that is self watering even in the drought of droughts... so i can just leave it til harvest...

If your plant is in a 5 gallon bucket and the spot is hot.....get you and your plant the hell away from that spot.....

Pics?

I'd like to see a five-foot half-pounder.

I'd say Angus is about spot on, assuming your soil drains well, about every three days. You could also just put the pot into the ground without dicking around with transplanting, that would help conserve. Mulch over the top might let you get away with that fourth of fifth day. Hope this helps. Good luck, and happy harvesting.

Just a dumb thought and maybe too late but there is moisture retentive soil mix that could extend the watering period to maybe a week, but I have to agree with what notorious stated and migrate.
