Man MG been making a stride in the griwing world lately. Idk why, does nothing phenominal and for the same price you can get any nutes from a company that specializes in OUR needs, not a generic brand full of chemicals. No good

I have just placed them in a bucket today so as you guys can see it has taken a while to germinate. I'm one of those guys who will wait a week until the seed pops because some just germinate slower. The chemdog seed germed within a day while the older mataro blue seed i had laying around popped 3 days later.

lights: 2x 23w ( i think) daylight cfls for now

on the left is chemdog and on the right is mataro blue.

idk wtf chemdog is doing, looks like its teetering on life and death but i have seen it do this "move" toward the light earlier today so its still very much alive albeit pitiful looking haha.

what do you guys think about me using humic acid, superthrive and potassium silicate in this experiment or should i keep it the way it is?

eagerly waiting to see the results
me too. I just placed the plants in the bucket.

oh yeah, the other nutrients I am thinking about using are superthrive, humic acid and potassium silicate. I have them and used them on other grows with great success with my hydroponic tomato plants. They are 9 feet tall now so go figure lol.

what bath salts are you going to be adding? is that instead of calmag?

epsom salts for magnesium and some sulfur.
calcium chloride for calcium.

so yeah, mixing these two together is a cheap version of calmag with the added bonus of sulfur

umm.. do you have ANY idea how long a 10 dollar bag of miracle gro 24-8-16 lasts? ok let me put it simply, find any other nutes for the same price that specializes in our needs. if you can, please post :).

yes, you are correct MG is a brand full of chemicals but compared to what? botanicare? advance nutes? those are all chemicals too! Sure one is organic and the other isn't but what does that really mean? it means that the organic ferts came from something that was once living, while inorganic came from something that wasn't living and even then there is a grey area. I mean seriously, do you honestly think that there is really a big difference between the two? the only thing different was that MG is more concentrated BECAUSE it's "full of chemicals".

This is why I am doing this test, to see if one can actually grow this using cheap nutrients while having everything a plant needs acessable to it.

update, plants aren't doing too well. I found out why... My sister placed botanicare silica blast in my 5 gallon bucket and nothing else. They are still alive but struggling like hell. I guess thats what I get for not being specific. I should have known when i didn't see the blue chem color of miracle grow.. Tomorrow im going to pour everything out on my garden plants and redo it... heck, I might even do it tonight.
