Hi!
I recently bought 5 strains, Easy Ryder (Joint Doctor) feminized Which is an f1 cross between a Lowryder #2 and an automatic AK47.

Aand I got some questions for my first grow.

1. How much soil should I use, and should I mix it with something?

2. Is fertilizers important?

3. How much should I water the plants?

4. How deep should the hole be?

5. Should I use pots, or just put them in the soil/soilmix?

6. Haha last ... How about lecca"balls"? Should I use them on top? ...


Hmm thats all I could come up with so far :p. Hope you can help me!

You'll really need to do more research about this as it varies from grower to grower. For myself, I am using a few 8 inch pots and some smaller Yogurt cups that are this size http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D8-hTO3S-Gs/SGUyTHC8QoI/AAAAAAAAASo/bEvXV1pu6kc/s320/yogurt-cup.jpg

For soil, I am using Fox Farms Ocean Forest as it contains "stuff" that marijuana plants love such as permiculite and vermiculite. To answer one of your questions, yes fertilizer is very important. You have to know how much to measure as over fertilizing & giving other nutrients can burn / damage your crops. Once your seedlings have successfully popped showing a nice white root, you generally want the depth of the hole in the soil to be the same depth as your seedling. I would highly recommend using pots, and not just planting your seedlings in bare soil without any kind of pot. This is especially important when its time to transplant into their permanent homes. When you water the soil, do not soak it to the point of being spongy. You just want it to be moist, be careful as you can drown and/or wash away your seedlings if you water to heavily especially during the seedling stage. I would not water your soil again until it has almost dried out. If you really want to be safe, invest in a pH meter to test the soils acidic & alkaline level. As far as lecca balls, I have not heard of using these on top of soil.

Hey man, and welcome to RIU

Since your new I'll give you a few links to some threads that you will find very helpful.

You must read them and not blow through its. you have to understand or atleast try. with doing anything esp. growing pot you need to understand that
you get out of it what you put in!

but if you want some personal advice, il answer your questions from my personal experience.

so here we go:

1. How much soil should I use, and should I mix it with something?

With seedlings you should start them in some type of root booster (root rooter, there are many products out there) After you build a good root system Shown Here then you want to transplant it into a largers container, such as a red solo cup (plastic party cups)

once you get about 2-4 sets of leaves you want to either fill a 5 gallon bucket with some nice soil (read the thread in my signature for the run down on the soil im using) and transpant the plant from the solo cup into the 5 gal bucket. Or you can dig a large hole outside and fill the hole in with the soil rather then using the 5 gallon bucket.

2. Is fertilizers important?

YES YES YES! do your research! using nutes is what needs to be done in order to get a good product.

Nute = nutrients

There are many lines of nutes that will work for pot, but personally i suggest fox farms or Earth juice, I am currently suing earth juice and am loving every but of it.
3. How much should I water the plants?
You should water every 3-5 days generally speaking. if it pours rain or is blazing hot for a few days then you can be the judge. dont be alrams when the soils gets dry, oxygen is then able to get down into the roots and is a great do of help. you never want to keep your soil moist all the time. by all the time i mean throughout the entire cycle.

4. How deep should the hole be?
if you are taking about how deep it hsould be when you plant the seedling then it should be about a half inch - 3\4 inch

5. Should I use pots, or just put them in the soil/soilmix?

I think you might be talking about hydrotron which is used for hydroponic systems only. so if you are growing in dirt then no you shouldnt use them

Using pots is your best bet for the Automatic strains. I have 4 Auto Ak47's in each pot. Im using 4 gallon pots and they are loving it.
