5 x 5 light set up

For the QB288 V2 - which uses the same Samsung LM301B LEDs - HLG uses a conversion rate of 68.62. So 60,000 Lux is 874 PPFD.

The holes were marked on that bit of sheet ally because I was going to mount double row strips to it myself. Looks like a neat job - I like how you're as OCD as I am about building things :D

I'm thinking 18" is a bit high. I run 120W, but I only have my frames about 12" or less above the plants.

Ideally, you want to find the height that gives you the most even spread of light and then adjust it up or down - as you suggested - with your driver. But don't take measurements from the corners or far edges - measure where you think the tops of the plants will be.

Once you've found a good height, ensure that you don't have to turn the strips up too high to achieve you desired PPFD. If you run the LEDs too hard, you'll just generate excess heat with less efficiency. Better to lower the light a little. Also, you can arrange your plants with the shortest ones in the middle and the tallest ones around the periphery where the light isn't as strong.

Having said that, you should be able to run those four strips at up to 200W or so without issues. I reckon you might find your sweet spot around 150-160W for clones and veg. Just a guess.

You are gonna have to play it by ear... these diodes won't burn the plants white like say an Epistar in a Mars, but you will notice foxtailing in the top colas.I'd leave at least a foot, maybe more on the first try.

Cheers lads, that gives me something to work on so I can configure everything else. I'll start at 18 inches and get the lux meter out and take it from there.

This is for a cloning and veg chamber. He can play it by ear, but I'm running an almost identical setup in the top photo.

@themadprofessor

I knew I finally got something right!!
My offer still stands (even tho you like teasing me) if you want something similar i.e. 4 x 12 inch with 4-6 ports each lemme know while I'm set up as I have a heap of retic gear from when I put my bore in.

I like the 3/4 rigid riser as a nylex tap connector screws on the end and I will be able to use quick connects - for your f#$@ing flexibility :bigjoint:

Anyway, I digress, so this little sucker will be going in my new cabinet, 960 x 600 x 1700.

King Prawn you mentioned that I will only need to run it at about 120w but now my cabinet is a bit bigger (for 4 maybe 6 plants max) I may need to run a bit harder - do you know what the ppf conversion from lux is? ~ 60000? I think I need to get around 400ppf during veg.

What sort of height will I be running the lights above the trellis- 18 inches and then adjust driver or a bit higher and run harder?

Cheers cuzzy

Ps we down 2 zip to the curry munchers in ODIo_O
Beautious!

The thing I love is the incredible amount of help and knowledge being given to my small amount of grey matter to process. 3 months ago I didn't even know what a QB board was!

Now I have half a concept of:
*Mapping and PPF
*QB boards and strips
*Drivers and wiring - and I'm still alive
*Spectrums
*Reservoir and RTW in Coco
*VPD environment
*Nuts
*Caveman clubs and Polo hats

Who knows, it's even possible I will even be able to grow some devils weed properly one day:bigjoint:

I'll have to to a different one then, buggered if I could see them...

So I got a new job in IT (which is amazing since I'm a welder) and my first job was to deck out a server rack.20190128_155242.jpg

So I did as I was told - (I'm pretty sure this is what the gaffer wanted?), its hell hill billy but I will tidy it up over the next month.

F@#K Prawn, have used these H Influx strips before?
Hell powerful - 120w at 18inches is 20k lux.
Will fit a mesh trellis 12inches below light which is 27k lux.

Needless to say I'm looking for a new job...

Nice job!

But 20K lux is only about 290 PPFD using HLG's calculation. I've had my strips as low as 100W and ran them pretty close, but it really depends on how long you need to veg for, how much stretch you do or don't want, and of course how much light your strain responds best too. I have loads of time to veg, so I turn my veg strips right down and have my time on 18/6. If I need to speed things up, I turn the timer on to 20/4 (or 11/1 if I really want to max things out) and bump the wattage up to about 150 or so

That 3mm alloy sheet is a perfect fit. It should reflect like fark. Amazing how you get given all this shit and it all comes together like it was pre-ordained. DENSITY! :eyesmoke:
