5000 watts in a single bedroom in an apartment building? I'd be scared the wiring was old and possibly faulting.
And even if the wiring is perfect, the bedroom wiring will share sockets (and thus circuit breakers), and you'll possibly overload amperage.JUst got an apartment and going to set up a 1 bedroom Grow up i looking to set up a max 5000 watt HPS what will my electric bill be like

dudes im looking for a approximateAnd even if the wiring is perfect, the bedroom wiring will share sockets (and thus circuit breakers), and you'll possibly overload amperage.
When I first started growing seriously a few years back, I had an electrician add a 30 amp dedicated circuit. New wiring done by a professional. That gave me peace of mind. I run 600-watt HPS, 220-watt LED, fans, dehumidifier, portable air conditioner, etc. Most all of them at the same time. The last thing I wanted to do was have the fire department tip the cops off as to what they found when they came to put out a fire in my house.I ran 6kw plus and it fried the bars in the 60 amp breaker box...at 240vac. Check the panel in the apt.
OK im ashing the question what is the approximate cost (doesnt matter where u live in america approximate cost) to run a grow room with about 25 plantsI ran 6kw plus and it fried the bars in the 60 amp breaker box...at 240vac. Check the panel in the apt. I had to completely alter the fuse panel and disconnect everything except a couple plug ins and lights for the place. You'll also need a couple of strings of 10/3 wiring and most likely an electrician.
haha that's what I was thinking, apartment and 5000w don't mixI think you'd better be more worried about burning the building down than the electric cost.

Could have been one less.15 replys and one answer. gotta love forums.
Don't forget tax's and state/local fees......5 lights - 1K with cooling, venting and fans....around 560+ perDivide your wattage (5000) by 1000 to get your kilowatts (5 kw)
Then times by the number of hours in your billing cycle (720 hrs in 30 days)
kiloWatt-hour is then 3600
Average price around here is like 0.09 to 0.13 cents per kWh so times your kWh by your $/kWh to get $324 - $468 per month
Of course when you have your own price per kWh then just do 3600 x that number
