I'd choose according to temps and space you're gonna use it in...I am using a 150w hps and it DOES heat up my little grow space...I'm forced to leave my cabinet open with a fan blowing into it....I also use a 96w T5 that's a little easier to cool....With oyu being in Canada, temps may not be a problem......

Wow mine is 2x2x5 and I run a 400w hps my average temp is 82 in hot Florida. So heat should not be your issue in Canada. Now all you really need to know is which one will be better for your plants.

you guys realise how hot and humid canada can get right?? This summer was a scoarcher for me here on the praries, temps hitting as high as 35 degrees(celcius) with humidity consistantly around 70 - 80%. Sure in winter the temps can also hit -30(without factoring windchill) but none the less. Your cab is quite big for a 50W MH I'd go with the CFL's and keep them closer to the plants. Just my opinion though.

just realised !50 is 150 watt, Either or will be good for light, what do you have for ventilation/cooling? Im running 400W HPS in a closet the same size and having a hard time venting it properly, my light is quite far from the plants reducing the amount of useable light I have. But at the same time my guys are THRIVING and loving it, so long as I move the light soon after they grow or they get burned.

Hey, yeah id really like to have a 400w but im extremely scared of creating a house fire.....id rather play it on the safe side and loose yield quantity than building something dangerously hot.... ill be using a 4 inch inline fan for exaust...some people told me that this is too much for my space ( 6tall x 4wide x 2 deep) but odor is my number 1 focus...so ill be putting a charcol filter and this fan will probably be running at around 150 cfm... as for intake,,, 2 or 3 passive holes close to the bottom of the armoire...ill be posting lots of pictures soon,,,, im curently suping up the armoire to get it ready for the lights and shit....you think a 250w hps + 2 x 60w cfl could create a decent grow?

lol, it can get pretty damm hot up here lol, last year i did a road trip around the entire USA ...the only place we didn't go was the east...like Florida new york and stuff....but ill tell ya...Canada never really felt as hot as it did in Chicago man.....damm, i dont know if its always like that or if it was just a fluke, but damm that place was hot...

They do not get that hot man! You won't start a fire if you use a 400 if it is not by anything combustible. I grow in a 4ft by 4ft by 4.5ft tall and I live in the desert it's always hot here just run house ac normally and have fans blowing over them all day. my box stays anywhere from 80 to 93f and no problems to speak of.
