It does contain mercury, but as a solid / amalgam on the end of the bulb.
it's much safer than cfl a Ts. Because disposal is simple ;
its one solid piece like a little toxic tooth filling.
I was in the dental biz for ~ 15 years. Even decades old amalgams in people's mouths still leak mercury, and contribute to unidentifiable illnesses (had all mine removed 20 years ago- yes I'm that fucking old). Granted their amalgam is probably encased on the outside...
