I have right now a 5x10 tent, the lights, fan and a carbon filter. My flood and drain table will take up about a 4x8 space with the res located underneath. Can you guys shoot me some advice and possibly draw up a little ms paint diagram for me with YOUR OPINION about the setup I should have. I know the jist of setting it up, but I am more of a visual person and seeing some pics(real or drawn) would help me a lot.

send me a link to where your tent is so i can see vents but i should be able to assume based on others.

i plan to do the same thing you are except with 2 4x4x6.5 tents with perpetual harvesting every month!

Heres a pretty basic but functional design.

I couldnt illustrate it but if you got a Y split for your carbon filter and fan you could place it down the middle of the tent instead of from left to right then have each duct from the light exit out the top.

but if not this should work just fine. just make sure you have enough positive pressure or you could bend your poles. probably not in a box this big but ive seen it happen to 4x4s and 3x3s with 6 or 8 inch cf and fans.

nice work bud bro. That's pretty much it right there. Although....

If you wanted a more "pimped out" set up. I would move the inlet off of the carbon filter and into the open hole on the tent (now your lights are in a "closed loop" and the AC lights are not constantly pulling in cold air. Then you can control temps my mounting an additional fan to a temperature control module and mounting it into one of the open holes.

Lastly, hang your CF with a an additional fan and just scrub.

That is more costly and ultimately probably not worth it as temps inside the tent are probably close to what they are outside. But if you really wanted to control temps better, that is the way you would run it. It's a basic set up for a sealed room but in this case your looking at another $250 in gear.

Just something to think about, monitor your temps during the first grow and decide.

I feel it!

Over summer i ran a similar set up but with 1 600w a 4x4 a cf with 400+cfm (no speed control) and a window ac. 8000 btu

Stayed a constant 75 in the tent when i would keep the ac on 73. but my summers are alot colder than most.

the carbon filter alone kept it cool and i take advantage of the cold air comin in the top because it sinks pretty fast

During the winter i used keep my 600 on a closed loop with only 2x6inch inline booster fans and thatd keep it mighty cool for those in the north haha

But yeah if you got the money deck it out! hahaha

hell yeah thanks! i fux wit the photoshop. its funny how ms paint it looks though.

i was about to upload pictures of fans, ducting, and cooltubes to really make it real but smoked in the middle and got lazy (and couldnt find good angled pictures)

but good lookin ill stop by soon and peep it. :blsmoke:

I am not really understanding about the Y duct, could somebody do/find a picture? Thanks for the setup though that seems pretty easy to do. Do I need fans on the other holes to bring in air or just oscillating fans in front of them?

Not sure where a y duct is? Not in that picture or the system I described.

If you go with the above system, the negative pressure created by the air leaving the tent will naturally pull air in the tent through the opening.

In the system I described (closed loop for lights). You would have to install a fan in the hole. Blowing in typically is a little more efficient in terms of cooling than blowing out.

I would recommend a separate circuit for your air cooled lights. I have ran the filter > duct > reflector > 600 > duct > reflector > duct > fan > out .. setup before... heat builds up.

If you separate the air cool, and pull air from outside to cool the lights... you will have much much better temps... and you can exhaust slow from your carbon filter... making it more effective and last longer. Especially in the summer, you don't want to waste your ac by pulling all that air to cool your lights...

You need more air cool power than exhaust power.

If its cold enough! which judging by the fact you live in ontario it will be.

And yeah you could honestly use 2x 6 inch inline fans for your lights and just pull cold air in from outside. then have it pass over both bulbs and exit either outside or if its a consistent enough temp you could use it as an intake and the bulbs as a heater instead of the cause of heat haha.

I used to run this with my single 600 and the air got more than cool enough to be used for the plants. Especially during winter in the north.

If you live somewhere that is cold at night, be prepared for it to rain in your tent when you pull in outside air.

Cold ducts in a warm room = condensate. Their is absolutely no way around it other than to keep your in room
Humidity around 40% or less

It gets bone dry where i live in the fall/winter so im good for a bout 8 months haha. Ive only had problems with this in the summer when i have the a/c runnin. those really throw the humidity into the room.

Thats why i like to just use my carbon filter exhaust to blow over the light with over 400cfm then shoot that out side or down my vents.

Ive recently started doing that because of the scare of cops/feds with FLIR cameras. that way they cant see excess heat leavin my room.

gotta watch out for em!

Nice you guys rock! I think Im gonna try the basic setup first and see if there are any problems. If so Ill grab another fan and try the other more advanced setup. Ill start a journal as soon as I move into my new place. Should be interesting to say the least.
