5x5 SOG

so this is my idea on a 5x5 sog, and would like any pointers or improvements before I really start getting it going. I plan on using six 27 gallon totes with 16 plants each.

They will be tied together in Groups of 2 with a corresponding 5 gallon bucket on the outside of my tent with water pumps. I'm making my own RDWC.

I plan on having it staggered out to have a harvest every 2-3 weeks. I've already got an SF4000. Will this be enough light for 96 plants?

I'll be using the 3 part GH Flora series. This is also giving the clones 2 week in the humidity dome.

Any other ideas would be great

Thanks!!

With lights it's not really about the number of plants so much as it is about canopy coverage. IMO one sf4000 is not enough light for a 5x5, and considering how involved the rest of your grow is I'd say it would be a waste to not run more light in there. I'd add another sf4000, or a 315CMH if you plan to have the tent packed.

Since this appears to be your first run in such a system, I would recommend scaling back the number of plants per tote significantly. You're going to want to get a feel for its operation, and trust me... you will want to change things, possibly even before the first run is complete.

If it were me, I'd go with two plants per bin for the first test. Possibly even just one.

After the first run, you'll be able to make efficiency and operational changes/fixes to the system, and prepare for a next run. You'll know whether its feasible or even desired to add more plants at that time.

I don't mean to dissuade you... I'm just pragmatic when it comes to this kind of thing, backed by my experience as an innovator and DIYer ;)

So then how big of a space should I have for just the 1 sf4000? I don't want to have to buy more lights yet...

You could never dissuade me! I'm still on my first grow. 2 month veg and just started week 4 since I flipped my lights. So I'm very inexperienced...

I'm having a blast with it tho!

I'll definitely be pulling back on how many plants I'll be trying. I want the the best space for my light without having to put more money into it. If I need to cut back on how many I want to do then so be it:) I'd rather have a successful grow then a wasted one. Haha but don't we all!

Thanks for the info!

Probably a 4x4 would be as big as I'd go with an SF4000. I have a 2000 in my 2x4 and it was definitely adequate but not really killing it. I wound up adding a supplemental light. It would absolutely crush in a 3x3 or even 42"x42" if your building the space (they don't make a tent that size)

The space that mine is in was built by me haha. About 3.5x3.5x5.5

I wasn't high enough when I started it. Was trying to go for 4x4x6...

I like that. It'd be light as can be to boot. I have a couple of questions... what's under the floor to prevent it from collapsing? What's your plan for vents? Is it stable enough to hold a fan/filter?

Really nice job!

I've got a carbon filter attached at the top with a 200cfm fan. The filter, light, and the center of the cabinet is actually anchored to the ceiling in my basement. The frame is made out of 3/4 inch PVC and insulated with 1 1/2 reflective Styrofoam.

I took out the floor in it because it was causing nasty issues.

Anybody else remove the drivers too?20200226_071736.jpg

I've also got an intake in the bottom where I have a filter on. Don't know how much good its really doing but its there! Haha

Very impressive! Care sharing what the materials cost was?

Honestly I can't remember maybe around 100-150...
I know I could have gotten a tent cheaper but I felt good because I built it myself. I was just so stoked about building my own greenhouse. And growing my own flower.

This isn't just my grow. I mean I'm the one who's paid for everything for it. Ive got a buddy helping me. I'm gone most of the time. So I'm trying to make it as easy yet effective as I can...

After I get my first grow complete and maybe another big plant before I attempt a SOG

New plan for a 4x4. Just wanting to know if these will be alright for a supplemental light on the outside of my sf4000?
