Ruderalis is the real name of autoflowers, and the autoflower trait is already in the genetics.
No one is engineering auto plants, just breeding normally with Ruderalis genetics(regular or feminized).
There are some good autoflower phenotypes, but not every one will be great.
You can't clone them so every plant is a gamble + I've had some mutant autofem.
