600 hps 42 days flower... what do you think

rdenManThanks Ga I used flairform nutes, no a&b just 1 bottle veg & 1 bloom.
My cfl's were in there for veg & I was gunna use them for flower though didn't bother coz of major heat issues. I will take them out and put them in my veg room once I come back from holidays... yet to make this room lol. I have them on 4mm wire which is rigid so where I place them they stay :)

Maybe the cfl's are only good for clones/seedlings, they appear to be to slow,r I wan't a MH... maybe 400w for veg.

The plan is to have an 8 week turn around, 8 weeks veg 4 plants, while 4 flower, I think I will try a SCROG and attempt to fill my space effectively with bud.

Any thoughts welcome

MY setup while using cfl's was like in the pic... no lights above only side slighting though slowwwww... this is day 44 from seed. Maybe it was partially due to my inexperience (slow growth) as it was my first grow. The can reflectors seem effective though, I think I got the idea from the GrowFAQ or somewhere :blsmoke:

The yellowing and die off is a natural part of the floral cycle. Remove leaves as they die off and be sure to flush plants with water only for the last 2 weeks. Flushing will help to remove excess nutrients and promotes better burning herb with a nice gray ashe and no hot chemmy taste. Very nice grow.

I definetly wouldnt get MH for flowering i would get hps you can pick up a 400watt hps brand new for 119 bucks. MH is best for vegging. :joint::peace::peace::peace:

Thanks shaman, I flushed about a week I think, can't wait till next grow.

I think you misread my post GardenMan :) I want a 400w MH for veg as I stated above "I want a MH... maybe 400w for veg"
My thread title displays the lighting used for flower :)
I vegged with cfl's 46 days, flower 600hps 55 days, total 101 days
Never the less thanks for advice, it would be nice to run both lights through total cycles of plants. best of both worlds, just like outdoors always has wide spectrum of light

Anyone have any thoughts of SCROG, any cons to this method

I run 400W HPS for vegging cycle and a 1,000W HPS for floral cycle. Get nice compact buds with good density and weight with plenty of resin formation. Would prefer a 600W HPS for floral cycle just to save on cost of hydro and no big power fluctuation. 400W at 18/06 is 7200W and 600W at 12/12 is 7200W so no big power spike on your bill to draw attention to.

hows the 400 go for veg, pretty good growth? If I plan for 2 months of veg with a 400 MH and 2 months 600 HPS do ya think the growth could be too much for myt area? I'm really interested in the SCROG method, love the thought of a screen of bud... all with max exposure to my lights (:

removing the mostly yellow leaves will help conserve energy. but yea, a 400watt for veg is perfect. my buddy has a 400watt w/ a hortilux-eye bulb for veg and a 1000watt hps w/ air cooled system setup. i might get a 400watt in the future, but for right now ive been vegging with a 1000watt MH and flowering with 1000watt HPS. my friend has been able to veg over 30 nice sized plants under a 400watt with no problem, its really bright.
