600 HPS and T5 with 8 bulbs?

I was wondering how high should I have my light (mainly the 600 HPS) above the plant surface should I place the light. I know it is supposed to be as close to the plant without burning it as possible but I want to put in a few more plants and they do kind of grow 'unevenly' and I am trying to find a Happy Medium. Can anyone help me?

I would say you should move your 600 HPS about 2-5 feet away from the plants. The T5 can be just a little closer.

Wow! That close huh, I am looking at about 9 inches from my best (tallest) plant, so you don't think it would be harmful to more it farther away?

Is your reflector hood air cooled? If not, 2' above your tops is fine. You'll need to keep a close eye on them when dialing in hood height. watch for tips to curl, if they do, raise the light a bit and try again.

Air cooled light. When I put my had under the light it is only slightly warm, no real problems but it is definitely to mildly burn the leaves.
