600 Watt HPS Air Cooled Hood Distance To 18 day old plants?

Looking for the range I should have my 600 Watt HPS Air Cooled Hood Distance To 18 day old plants? Pic attached for reference. Currently around 14" from canopy to glass shield.

Would you lay on the table and be comfortable heat wise but the back of your hand underneath the reflector move it up if it's too warm

You're fine where you are with that little fan blowing the heat away. Just keep your eyes on the leaf tips. If they start to go a bit brown and your leaves start to cup upwards a bit, raise it another 5 inches or so.

But you should be OK as is.

Yep...what Budgor said. Make sure the heat from the bulb isnt too warm on the back of your hand. Here is a sheet that may help with your distances. Note that this is for the ideal amounts of light...without accounting for heat.
