I have 2 600 watt hps sun system ventilated hoods. How many plants should this be good for I'm doing autos so they will be relatively small I have gotten this strain up to about 4 feet tall Under CFls in the past (smurfberry x White Russian) gets pretty tall and branchy for an auto
Lots of colas by far the biggest auto I've ever seen. but this is my first hps grow and the room is quite large so I want to do as many as possible, any thoughts let me know thanks!

A 600 is usually good for a 4x4 light pattern...if you have a good hood.

Never ran autos but some SOG expert could chime in

For starters, a hps will increase the yield and lumen output. They will usually stretch more during the preflower stage as well. But with 5ft tall plants, how wide are they; cause that will partly determine how close you can keep them. Always remember that yeild can be directly effected by space and light.

I grow 4-8(typically around 6) plants with a 600w HPS in a 4x4 Tent. I have a horizontal reflector, so I line it up as 2 rows of 3. I usually run photo plants, but I keep them small, about the size you would expect an Auto to be. With 2 600s, you could do a dozen, but it mostly depends on the type of Auto. Some are more branchy than others, and some get much bigger than others, even among the same seed stock.

Optimally a 4x4 footprint under each.
Number of plants will vary by strain and grow pot size. 12-18 auto's prolly, if arranged properly, and keeping room for them to stretch a bit

3x3 area for a 600. The number of plants is to correspond with your type of growing. I have no experience with autos, so I won't chime in on that.

How much would you be looking at yielding off say 12 autos compared to only doing 2 photos and yielding 2-3 pound ?

I do have some blue dream photos right now vegging they are non feminized though I plan on flowering them right when these autos are just about done

Under each 600 or all together
If u have experience with the autos ur growin and know how big they get then u should estimate ur space that way.. I have no experience growin autos but I've heard they are pretty compact plants so I was thinking 12.. But u wanna keep space between the pants for air and stuff so 12 under each lamp might be much but I'm sure it's not impossible.. to be safe I would do 10 under each lamp.. hope this helps.. happy growin bro

I would do 15-16 total under both lamps. 4 rows of 4 or 3 rows of 5, being spaced out just right for whatever kind of reflector you have. Yield is too variable to tell you what you would get. The size of each of your plants will be a variable as well since everything is from seed.

Good luck and happy growing!
