600w ballast wiring help!

Hi guys,

I have searched through threads and other online resources for answers and need help.

I live in Europe and recently decided to grow my own for personal use however I have run into my first obstacle, connect my 600w magnetic ballast to my Adjust a wings reflector.

Here is the ballast.

Here is the back of the light fixture.

My question is do I strip the wires in the fixture and coil it around the wires from the ballast?
What do I do with the wire with the round bit? It wont fit through the opening in the light.

Ive checked for diagrams from both manufacturers sites but no luck.

Thanks

Made in Poland thats it !

Go and buy the lamp fixture pastics and wire it, Brown to black and blue to white. You dont need to strip the cables. The grounding cable should be attach to the metal frame of the ballast if its a magnetic. But i dunno why u dont got any groudning cable from your reflector.

Ok cool, thank you.
The ground wire on the ballast is run with the other cables.
You said to attach it to metal frame of the ballast but the ballast is in a plastic case.
should i ground it to my reflector somewhere?

But if its case is Madeleine out of plastic

You have to ground the ballast it is very important!! Same with the reflector. If there is nowhere to mount it on the ballast i would put the whole ballast in a metall box and there you can ground it properly to the metall. About the plastic cup it looks just like protection for the wires i may be wrong. / Flodas

Those are crimp wire connectors. You put the two wires you want connected into it and crimp it with a plier like tool, usually a regular pair of pliers or wire cutters can do it(if you're careful).

I can't help you with wiring without seeing some schematics. I've rewired a few lights and don't ever remember having a ground go to the lamp socket or hood, usually just a black and white wire, but those were old magnetic ballasts. Do those 3 wires from the ballast go to the light or the input power? Curious because it says "mains: 230V ..." right above those leads.

So, I bought these connector bits to connect the wires from the ballast to the hood as suggested previously. Can I use these instead of the crimp wire connectors?

Unfortunately, Ive looked everywhere for a diagram and no luck.

This is the lamp bit that goes with my reflector. It has two wires, one black and one white, enclosed in the plastic case along with the crimp wire connectors. No ground wire.

It appears the three wires run to the hood.
I was thinking to run the ground cable between a washer and screw on the plastic back cover of the lamp?
But if its case is Madeleine out of plastic

If i connect these wires to the light, i have no idea how to ground the wire to a metal box with the ballast in it...

Connect the wires in the plastic and everything will work out fine. But i wouldent run it before the grounding is done. If I where you i would ask around on the grounding issue i cant help you more.
