600w Closet Medical Grow

First off a lot of thanks has to be giving to BoomerB as his design was the sole basis of how I constructed my closet. As far as what my requirements are, his setup has answered most of any technical or logistical concerns i had. The closet space is 28" x 7.5'. I have:

4" high output fan w/carbon filter
600w Enhanced high output HPS, with Digital ballast
120qt cooler for resevoir
2x sunleaves 640?gph pump
12x 12" Sunleaves Air stones


I have not currently decided on what I am going to do for nutrients, I will probably go non-organic. I also have that 4 bulb t5 light, which i was going to use for clones and a mother now I am not too sure... I was thinking about building a stand for it and posting it up during flowering time just in front of the closet with the doors open while it's on light cycle whenever my schedule permits... I will have to think about that one... Anyways, here's some pics, please excuse my light not being mounted i have to pick up another reducer, and the yoyo's are arriving tomorrow...also, the digital ballast, and air pumps will be located in the adjacent closet, and the shared walls dynamatted and equipment mounted on 3/4" firetreated plywood... The sunleaves pumps were just a tad louder than expected, the fan isnt bad at all...

Sweet lookin setup i would advise thinking twice about organic....but then again i'm biased that way as i believe it gives my bud a better taste and quality

The extra T5's wont make the world of difference if u already have a 600w Enhanced HID . i think it would just inconvinience u m8

But wouldn't the T5 be better for veg?

Also, I use organics in my DWC, and I dig it. PH goes a little coo-coo for me in the first couple days after a rez change, so I use a weaker solution and change it less... no problems. Plus, as I've done in my current grow with organics, you can used things like humic acid and mycorrhizae to inoculate your nute solution with microbes that will both buffer your PH, and unlock nute uptake in wider PH ranges. I can leave my plant for 3-5 days, and it's cool. I did get some spots on a few lower leaves after using too much strong PH down (citric acid) and leaving it for 5 days and then finding the PH in the lower 4s. I lost 7-9 leaves on 4 plants because of this, but would I bet a chemical grower would see more loss than that. Just my 2 cents (or 3 or 4) on organics.

T5's would definately be useful for veg unless the Enhanced 600w has some blue spectrum in it, then the 600w wins. By all means use both, the more lumens the better but clutter is a killer for me. i like the simplicity of 1 all purpose bulb

The 600w HPS will put out significantly more light then a 4 bulb T5 light.

For a separate veg/mother space the T5 is probably ideal, but in the flowering room I wouldn't bother with the T5 cuz it'd just come out in a few weeks anyway. Stick with the one 600w lamp, regardless if your vegging or flowering, the plants will love all the light.

I was just thinking if i wasn't going to setup the mother/clone cabinet I may as well benefit from the extra-light. Necessity is the mother of all invention, and there isn't a huge necessity of me using the t5, so I will probably just keep the door closet =-D

Organics is in no way out of the running, and I would prefer to grow organic meds. I just have to do a bit more reading on it before I make my final decision.

I'm thinking of doing the same setup but my clset is a tad smaller then your i might need your in the future . by the way are you using aeroponic setup......

hand watered DWC... im thinking of doing 4-6 plants in that reservoir.

mounted my light today, just need to get to lowes for another reducer, and a couple couplers... it will probably be a week or so before i order seeds or clones, my girlfriend is still reeling slightly from the money i blew on this in a matter of a few days.
