Whats up rui? I'm totally new to the indoor scene but have been wanting to set up two dwc 5 gal. Buckets in a tent. I wanted to use a 600w cool tube. I've been searching the site and elsewhere and haven't really found that set up yet. Im sure its out there and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions. Will this set up get to hot? What size carbon scrubber should I use to best eliminate odor?

You will do great with a 4x4 tent a 2 bucket dwc and 600w cooltube.

For my first go around I would just like to go with two good sized girls. I've seen you can have some impressive yields with two buckets. I plan on getting another tent to veg. Eventually.

What would be an adequate filter to relieve most if not all odor for that set up?

I have a 4x4 with six plants in it and the smell doesn't really get that bad but I don't have to worry about odor were I am as this building smells like weed all the time.

not to badly priced and just right for a 4x4.

So I assume you want to do some training as well with them 2 girls like LST, topping or mainlining?

how are you running your tent? all the components on the inside(fans filter ect?) how many and what size fans do you use?Size Of Carbon Filter?Ducting?

Do you use dwc buckets I'm assuming? If so doesn't six plants get tight in that space? How long do you veg? Lol sorry for the bombardment of questions.

How Heavy Is That Filter? Does It Work Well?

I got some pic's in there. I got my tent set up in the spare bedroom I have a fan in the tent just to move air around my buckets to cool them a little. I also got a 6 inch in one of the vent holes venting the tent and I leave a air flap open to get fresh air. The hood is getting straight cold air pushed into it then vented right into my room(keep my room warm lol). I have a couple of holes in the ducting that is pushing the cold air so I can control the temp in the tent this way If it gets too cold I tape a hole or two if it gets to hot I open them up. This setup seems to be working great so far. I stated I do not use a scrubber as odor is not a problem for me.
Ohh ya the fan for the hood is just a normal vent fan from a washroom, I use it because it is quiet and it does push a lot of air.

Yes I use aeroponics and it is getting crowded. And I know nothing about scrubbers as I don't use them but that one I linked is my opinion a good scrubber for the price. I have gone ahead and added you as a friend.

so you go inline straight out witch is where i would put the carbon scrubber and leave a flange open for cold air intake. and run a bathroom fan through the hood and out of the tent directly needing another scrubber if smell was an issue? if i went with a booster fan from a fresh intake outside the tent direct through the cool tube out of the tent i wouldnt have to use another scrubber and heat would be ok?

I thought about topping than putting them about a foot under a scrog? Is there better ways to go about it

I get the carbon filters off ebay... have bought 2 cheapies and both have worked flawlessly so far... I live in apartment buildings where stealth is critical (I have had maintenance men over with a tent in full bloom and my system dumping filtered exhaust into a bathroom with no odor using these filters). You will need to get a filter that is rated for a higher CFM than your fan is pulling... so you should think about how much CFM you will be pulling with the static pressure in your setup, which should be around 0.75" is the number you want to look at. You will prob need a 6" inline fan, I have a Canfan Max Fan which is mixed flow, but if you are not worried about noise there are cheaper centrifugal inline fans. I have a cheapo ebay 4" fan that works like a champ but I don't use it anymore. My Max Fan is pulling through a 4" x 18" carbon filter and cooling two 400w HIDs in cooltubes.

So if you get a fan rated at 400 CFM free-flow, but after hooked up to your ventilation with a filter and air duct and some bends (about 0.75" static pressure) your fan is actually pulling 230 CFM, you would want to get the 4x18 filter because it is rated for 270 CFM. These numbers were arbitrarily pulled from my ass but you should get the idea.

The filter I got has 2" thickness of carbon which supposedly most filters have 1.5" and some of the bigger ones are reversible which will give you another 6 months or so of scrubbing. I do not work for these guys or any shit like that... any of the ebay filters with australian mined activated carbon should work the same.

Any time you are blowing out air from your grow room it will smell like the inside of your grow room unless it comes through a filter (which is why it's important to pull a slight vacuum for negative pressure in your grow room so the skunky air doesn't seep out the cracks). Cooling a reflector hood like you are saying by pulling air from outside the grow room and having the hood and duct completely sealed should be OK since none of the weed air in your tent is entering the duct or ventilation system. Also a duct booster fan should work fine without a carbon filter. I use one for my veg cooltube that does not need a filter.

Also I don't know if it really makes a difference on life expectancy or anything, but I have always been told to suck air through the filter instead of blowing it if you have the option.
